For anyone who uses beware's Extreme on an arcade cabinet with support for din's LIT board: here is a patched version of the game executable which fixes a credit text formatting issue, previously it gave the illusion of multiple credits being inserted if multiple coins were required for a credit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cIVlF5xWsRsi2czjlAvJ3FXJNKix0WZL/view?usp=sharing
Original executable was packed with UPX, depacked it with version 4.2.2 as well.

I found an interesting detail on the original beware DDR EXTREME theme that comes with a special StepMania package. How did Beware make it that the timing of the announcer matches the same timing in Dance Dance Revolution? Because usually how the StepMania announcer works is it comes on at random times. But this is the only theme where the announcer is 100% accurate to the original game.

there is still a lot of interest in beware's extreme. there's reasons i didn't work on it
- RSI as mentioned, although this got a bit better lately
- a lot of other things are competing for my time
- problems with SM 3.9, such as timing accuracy of pauses/stops, and BG video threading/stuttering (would necessiate a port to SM 3.95 to fix, this is probably too ambitious/time consuming for me to take on)
- the fact that i don't know if i can for example add pacdrive support, this may be too difficult. i got a donation from someone and purchased one, and i feel bad about this.
- others sort of "forked" it and unofficially maintain it, afaik, so im not sure if i would be helpful at all.
- a requirement for websites to use SSL or they're now broken
the ongoing posts and interest in this thread are kind of heartwarming for me.
- i may soon look into the fact the download link is broken (i suspect this is SSL related)
- i may do another release within a year or so which focuses on fixing bugs/errors (like those mentioned in posts in the thread)

Hi! I was wondering if there is a fork or mod of this project that allows you to load all your custom song folders instead of the default Extreme songlist. I know the purpose of this project is to have an accurate arcade experience, I know, but it would be nice to have the option, since there is no better Extreme theme than this one.

If you just want to use custom songs with this theme, I think you can just put them into a folder (or folders) within the Songs folder, like how Stepmania normally works, and delete the folders with the default songs if you don't want them.

I've tried that before. Due to the custom default sorting in metrics.ini, this is what I initially get:

Which breaks immersion completely. Once you change the sorting (Left+Right), it does show the songs, though. Most likely this could be fixed by changing something in metrics.ini, I just have no idea how to do it.

to disable this page that just says random/roulette, make two changes to metrics.ini in the ddrextreme_beware folder.
- find DefaultSort=DEFAULTLIST and change it to GROUP
- find DefaultListEnabled=1 and change this to 0
defaultlist is a custom feature in beware stepmania to show a selection of songs like the arcade does. these two settings disable it completely.

OMG, it's you! First of all, thank you so much for your work!, and thank you so much for lending me a hand here. Indeed, that totally did the trick:

Also, I've always wanted to get rid of those ugly numbers I added to the folders (for custom sorting purposes), and now, since your build supports custom cards, I was finally able to do it:

It looks totally awesome! I can't wait to try this on my cab. Thank you so much!

Hey Beware have you ever considered making a special fork StepMania that is based off of DDRMAX and DDRMAX2
Post #290 · Posted at 2024-06-26 12:17:36pm 10.7 months ago
no. maybe someone else can make one, atleast for max2, with the existing patched stepmania.
i tested and the download link works, so i don't know why it doesn't work for you. also i added SSL support to the website and made the link https, maybe this fixes it.
Also when you get an "AAA" I usually hear the speaker saying "Can I call you dancing master?" And when I played I didn't hear that.
i believe this should work, if it says something else, it may be that it's the last song of a set and it says "you showed the ultimate dance, i can't stop crying buckets of tears", or memory cards are enabled and it says "wow it's a new record".
tbh i don't know what the real extreme arcade says if you get a AAA and a memory card is used.

Hello.
I know that this message will most likely be ignored, but I couldn't help but notice that the link to download beware's DDR EXTREME in its entirety doesn't work anymore. I would appreciate if someone could update me on the situation as soon as possible, because I've been in an 'EXTREME' kinda mood lately (abysmal pun, I know).
Thank you in advance for your response. Take care, stay safe, and have a good rest of your day/night.

Hey Beware, just wanted to say "THANK YOU".
Extreme was the mix I played for many, many years during my most active time playing dance games and having your build is a wonderfully nostalgic trip. I really appreciate someone trying to preserve the early DDR experience like you have. I feel like so many in the community just don't care about the preservation aspect of this game, but your Extreme build is exactly this and I love it.
Again, thank you for your efforts. I really appreciate it.

This is accurate. However, if it was on the final stage, you would get the claxon sound instead, since you unlocked Extra Stage.
I have lots of AAA videos captured from a local arcade I played at years ago, if you want some footage as a reference.

Hello,
Created an account because I wanted to thank Beware, gzy, and any others who helped create, update, and release this project. As someone who is just getting back into DDR, I was eager to quickly jump in without having to watch a playlist full of youtube tutorials on how to optimally set up stepmania, ITGMania, outfox etc. This #justworks and I greatly appreciate from a user perspective.
Have a great day!

Hi everyone,
I just got Beware's DDR up and running on my PC last night and I absolutely love it. There's so much nostalgia there. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find more songs from Captain Jack. Beware, thank you for making this.[/font]

As far as this website is concerned, you can go to Games -> DDR & DS -> Simfiles, and there, you can find simfiles for both all the Captain Jack songs that already appeared in DDR, as well as numerous fan-made simfiles.
