For anyone that downloaded the pack to get all of the Week 1 songs, make sure to separately download any song that has a red right-side icon, as otherwise Bamboo on Bamboo and HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY will be missing their charts, and Arksphere will be missing its video.

Okay. Let's reviewing simfiles the way only TaroNuke does
(these files are reviewed keyboarding on index, where I attempt to do crossovers by actually crossing my fingers over.
I can crossover stream up to 180 bpm 16ths with this style, so if I mention doublestepping as a problem, I do know what I'm talking about.)
Hopefully this encourages more indepth reviews, I like reading them.
Feel free to ignore everything I said. Your file is your file. This is just why I did/didn't vote for you.
Arksphere:
This was a pleasant little romp, I liked the way you followed rhythms throughout the song, but nothing in it really stood out to me, and it seemed a little uncomplex at times. Could have done with more crossovers, but overall fun.
Beautiful Liar:
Yeah, Tyma was talking about this sort of thing in his podcast - you made a certain kind of standout step pattern (the hold with two steps) feel associated to a certain part of the song, which works well, and felt good. I had fun.
Bubble pop:
Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I normally dislike Mr. Music files, but apart from the seemingly thoughtless doublesteppy patterns and bad sync (which I resynced myself as -3.622 sec)... I was having fun. I was enjoying it. The jumps in the chorus actually worked! Pretty well at that!
And then the dubstep section.
I just... It BOGGLES the MIND how you could look at this section and go "yup, that's releasable"...
Why... Why are there 32nds randomly placed... Why does it end on a 16th? Why does the speed up during it not go to anything...
None of this makes any sense... I am genuinely upset at you! I thought you were moving away from multi coloured record mode spam charting... The first note of the dubstep section isn't even ON the beat! Did you not play it back with assist tick on!? It was so much fun... But because of that ending section... NOTHING is on sync there, and WHY does it go to 109 bpm?? That's not even a divisible of the song's actual bpm...
Fuck this I'm done, 0/10.
ELISHA:
This was neato. I didn't like the fact that the speed change was sort of impossible to see coming, even after multiple attempts though...
Not much else to comment on this file. Good use of crossovers.
Halfway around the world:
There he goes again, Pie with his sexy use of doubletaps that just works so well wherever he uses it...
Makes me think back to that "what you waiting for" file I enjoyed so much. The only complaint I have is how the crossovers that seemed to go to a specific part of a song in the first half start showing up randomly in the 2nd, making the file seem to lose focus. Very good file otherwise.
(The difference between this and Elisha earlier is that Elisha's crossovers didn't originally feel mapped to anything, which made them not feel like they lost purpose halfway through the song.)
Belongs in a DDR game.
Hard to say I'm sorry:
Inconsistency: the movie. It was okay, but the cut was kind of awkward and it didn't feel like much fun towards the end. That said, nice complex steps, I was just never a fan of oo-o-oo-o rhythm.
KISS ONE MORE TIME:
The offset is -0.573!!
The rhythms you followed worked quite well, however not all of the spins you used worked so well.
Unless some of them were just doublesteps, sometimes it's hard to tell in your files :I
Of course, the speed of the song meant it was a non issue, I was just pointing it out. I liked this file a lot, so don't feel bad that I didn't vote for it, other files just did what I want to see in a simfile a bit better.
Last Burning:
Feels slightly early..
Another case of nothing really standing out unfortunately. Otherwise neato!
The following of the words "last burning" was nice at the end.
Matsuri:
This definitely runs on way too long. It's only 2 minutes 7, but it felt like it should have been over long before it was, probably because of how slow it is. The patterns in both the heavy and the challenge were pretty neat, challenge especially getting rather complex with those holds and syncopated steps, but I don't think it's a 10, and I don't think heavy is a 9. This would make an interesting boss song though. Maybe something like RDA or an Extra Stage lol
Mermaid girl:
Another case of it's a bit too long, but it's really energetic so you don't notice as much. I like how you did that 8 bit section haha.
The patterns were pretty nice all the way through, and of course, it's very nicely synced.
(Damn it, 5 greats FC)
Prompt:
WHY. I CANNOT GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD, FUCK. THE SONG PREVIEW IS SO AMAZINGLY CHOSEN SCREW YOU. I ended up even playing the standard thanks to this song preview...
Both the expert and the challenge have their own special feel to them thanks to that one section haha. This is a very well made file. It flowed pretty nicely with a good (but possibly over)use of crossovers that was stiil fun. I'm always fond of the one footed hold done right.
Radioactive:
There's a lot of good rhythm following in this song. Maybe you should work on cutting songs rather than fading them out though.
The patterns were very nice though. I really liked the non-standard sections like "is everybody oka-a-ay".
(A little like Tel's file, the speed change can and will ruin PFCs)
Raison d'etre:
An example of non intrusive speed changes, I sightread PFC'd it somehow (probably because I've listened to the song a few hundred times who knows LOL)
I think this is one of the best files in week 1. Everything in it seems to work well.
Redraw lots:
How the fuck did you sync this so well.
Very fun file! The crossovers were well thought out, and even though the speed changes killed my PFC, it's hard to be mad at such a cute song, especially when the steps themselves were so much fun, speed changes and all.
VIRGIN IN:
We all need more music like this in our lives.
The speed change seems really abrupt at first, (because it IS), but unlike the other sims, it DEFINITELY doesn't feel without warning on the 2nd play. I ended up playing this one A LOT just to improve my score. An interesting thing to note is if you think about which foot starts each section, you can remove all the in-section doublesteps. A while ago, I didn't like this aspect of any chart, but it found its place in my heart after having the doublestepping argument with Tyma (as a bar-raping ITGfag) but I digress.
This was a great file that would make a cool boss song, really felt like 888 but less awkward.
I'm not going to do anything weird like review the beginner chart for this song,
those are normally way too easy to bother basing an opinion of a simfile off...
HORKY BORKY HORKY NONG BONG WANG DANG this is definitely a 19.
SigSig:
Way way way offsync.
After the resync (offset 0.075) though, it seemed fine. But perhaps there were too many crossovers, maybe you overdid it.
(Felt like shoehorning crossovers everywhere.)
The left facing DLD cross seemed to show up more than it should have, like more than the other directions...
The run at the end was a lot of fun though.
Silhouette of my mind:
That was... weird
Like, it didn't feel like a steppable song, but you did a somewhat good job putting steps to it..
It felt strangely offsync in some places, but not others, I can't really explain why. Jump into a 16th crossover DOES NOT feel fun.
Umbrella:
Very high quality file.
Nice crossover gimmick at the start, and the rest of the steps have a nice memorable rhythm to them.
You didn't update the graphics.
What the hell?:
Background/Banner makes me cry. I love it. The steps were very well done, the amount of crossovers was just right, and the breaks were well timed/placed.
It was synced a bit early though

Arksphere - Decent chart. Wasn't a big fan of the psuedo-triplets, but everything flowed nicely.
Bamboo on Baboo - Outisde of the amazing gimmick, the chart was really great. I wish you weren't on my team, because I would definitely vote for this :/
Beautiful Liar - Fun fun fun. I loved the jumps, the patterns fit well, and the steps, although not really complex, were varied enough to be interesting. Great job.
Bubble Pop - The beginning was boring with some glaring rhythm inconsistencies and odd patterns, and then you hit the slowdown, where the song goes from slightly offsync to super offsync, and the patterns and rhythms become retarded. NO.
Elisha - This had potential. The patterns for most of the slowdown were kinda odd, and I thought the tempo should've doubled again halfway through it. I also didn't agree with some of the rhythms in the second fast part, but the patterns were interesting, so I'll give you that.
Halfway Around the World - Perfect. Your charting style is so much like mine (on a good day). I really have something to look up to :3
Hard to Say I'm Sorry - The beginning should have been half the tempo and was charted like shit. However, the techno part was really nicely done, so I can't complain.
Kiss One More Time - Chewi, I really want to like your charts, but I don't :/. I see what you're trying to do with the simple charts and the doublesteps/spins, but I don't like how you execute it, if that makes any sense. I can't explain it. Maybe I can figure it out by the end of the contest lol
Last Burning - I LOVE the patterns here. I really do. Seriously, they're so much fun. Kudos.
Matsuri - Interesting, but I can't say I liked the song. Which is a shame, because the steps were pretty good, but I didn't think the music was fitting for DDR :/
Mermaid Girl - Typical speed Euro/J-Pop song with reasonably difficult 9 foot steps. Chart was fun, but otherwise unremarkable.
Prompt - I loved these steps. There were one or two patterns that were a little awkward, but they MAY have been my fault, so I won't judge you on them because I loved everything else.
Radioactive - I'm not a fan of the triplet streams, and outside of those the steps were pretty unremarkable, but honestly Braeden I'm just happy you didn't make this a 13
Raison D'Etre - This is one of those charts that didn't impress me despite doing everything right (outside of that one slowdown with those awkward jumps. That was stupid). I don't understand why exactly, but something felt off here. I can't explain it :/
Redraw Lots - This was unique in a good way. The patterns were phenomenal and the sixteenths were used really well. Sometimes clusters at this tempo can feel a bit forced, but thery felt realy natrual here. I liked this a lot.
Shoujo In -Virgin In - ...I have no words. (If you want actual feedback, I thought the chart was really sloppy with some crappy step/rhythm placement, but I was too horrified by the song to care o.O)
SigSig - You see, I loved this chart, but I can't put it in the top 5 for this week, simply because the sync was horrendous. Next time, fix the offset before you release a brilliant chart so that it's actually playable.
Silhoette of My Mind - This felt so unprofessional, between the lack of graphics, sixteenth streams, jump streams, rhythm errors, and song choice. It's not bad by any means, but it's really unpolished. I tend to rate by how professional everything is (that is, if it would work in an actual DDR game) and this isn't professional at all. Sorry.
What the Hell? - Decent chart. Nothing remarkable here (except for the ah-mazing background XD)
