I don't remember exactly where PIU put the 16hs, but the song definitely has some drumrolls where 16ths could go and follow the music.

I'll probably post a few reviews later. The only file I've played is my opponent's file, but I'll try to get more in tonight. Not only am I going to rate one over the other, but I am also going to give it a rating out of 10. Should be fun.

Beautiful Girl vs. By Chance

Beautiful Girl: Really liked the background video and the song's driving beat. The steps go well with the music and remind me of one of the fun licenses in DDR. However, the ratings all seem too high by 1. Also, I feel like there could be a harder stepchart that still goes to the music. Still fun steps, and I'd like to pad these when I get the chance.

By Chance: Ahahahaha, those Challenge steps are hilarious. I've gotta get someone to sightread those on an ITG2 to see their reaction. (I was like ARE YOU SERIOUS on the doubles steps). Heavy steps are a ton of fun and I see what Taro was saying about staying crossed over. Hadn't heard the song before but it's going on my mp3 player. My only nag is that Challenge is a copy/paste of Heavy, but since Light-Heavy are the only required I don't see a problem with it.

Le Code de Bonne Conduite

Oni your steps remind me a lot of the Pump Hard chart, though that would be because it also follows the music. It bugged me that there were no "Crazy" steps counterpart, but this is still one of my favorite Pump songs and I think you did a good job bringing it over to 4-panel.

Chimera vs Maria

Chimera: (I mixed this song up with Phantom at first... should know better since Bemera's on my mp3 player). Wow those streams look tiring; this could be a good practice song for me.

Maria: I can understand the lack of the 16ths this time, since they unbalance the chart in an Under the Sky way. That being said, you could still have steps during the empty parts if only just to tap out the beat.

Vote: Maria. This one was a tossup for me, but Maria lends itself to a calm, peaceful chart and I think Pandy got that down well.


First Kiss vs Forever Love

First Kiss: Really catchy and relaxing. Will definitely play this again! I'm the type that doesn't care about having to doublestep or hop to reposition, as long as it's not at a bullshit speed. Looks like a lot of fun.

Forever Love: "Hmm, these two Heavy charts are both pretty fun. Let's see what the Standard looks li- OH GOD WHY IS THAT STANDARD"

Vote: First Kiss. Props to Kyz on making Pump-style charts, but I think you should leave the BS-hard hands in Challenge.


Grave Consequence vs Wake Up

Grave Consequence: Ooh, I've gotta play this one more.

Wake Up: Heavy steps have some cool rhythms. On Challenge I would've opted to have the freezes finish earlier so you don't have to cut out the rhythms afterwards.

Vote: Grave Consequence. Wake Up had pretty good steps too, but I really don't like that song. (After all, we are voting for our favorites, and I won't vote for a song that I'm not going to play again.)


Love Is A Danger Zone 2 vs XLASHER

Liadz2: Oh wow, pad charts to this that I can either pass or think I can and will end up failing halfway on! Good stuff. I especially liked the offbeat triple 8ths (blue-red-blue) in Heavy, and the hop-reset crossovers (LUR LDR RUD) in Challenge.

XLASHER: First chart so far that's thrown in stops; pretty cool. There were a few places where the rhythm seemed off, like the blue-yellow-red in M42 and M54 (should be yellow-blue-red).

Melody vs Overflowing Emotions

Melody: Hey stop it, you're trying to confuse me with a cute girl in a baseball uniform... and it's working

Overflowing Emotions: Clever use of the mines and background graphics. Yeah the song does go on for awhile... (whoa! 2m22?)

Vote: Melody was a little catchier, but this was really a tossup for me. Now OE is stuck in my head...

Love Is A Danger Zone 2 vs. XLASHER
LiaDZ 2 was definitely written by somebody who likes Pump. Spins and 16ths are all well placed, and I appreciate that the solo in the middle isn't full Andamiro stepped.
XLASHER had some great ideas on emphasizing high points in the song, but had a much worse time of tying them together.
LiaDZ 2 it is.

Overflowing Emotions
I liked the S-Heavy/D-Heavy charts a lot more than the S-Oni/D-Oni. Easier to read (ahaha), more fitting to the feel of the song in general.
Backing up the BPM changes with background changes was a really good idea / a lifesaver.
I just really can't stand Laugh & Peace anywhere!

Maria vs. Chimera
Chimera had a lot of good ideas in all the charts I tried (Oni, Heavy, Standard), but it always felt like the song was just getting away from you, and the steps kind of lost purpose.
Maria's S-Heavy beats Chimera on that point - some flow issues, but much more coherent.

Wake Up vs. Grave Consequence
This match was a tough one. Apparently the seeding is working out well
Grave Consequence edged out Wake Up because, although I thought Wake Up had a lot of fun elements going for it (including the new take on the rhythms, better than the original IMO), Grave Consequence has a better sense of its song's rhythm and more interesting placement.

By Chance vs. Beautiful Girl
Beautiful Girl's chart kind of blew me away. I think there's something really attractive about knowing when to just not put steps and break up the streams.
By Chance was also good, both singles and doubles lol triplet hands in D-Oni but just didn't leave as lasting an impression on me. It's one of my favorite songs on Pump, I play that D16 too much and now I'm used to all the 16ths

WHOA. Whoever made that Most Amazing Simfile. I want to shake your hand. These are the REAL crossups. Such taste in placement! Such rhythmic sense! Such flow!
...but I have a soft spot for bluegrass so I went with 45 rotations

First Kiss vs. Forever Love
Not my favoritest bracket, but I liked the flow of Forever Love's Heavy charts better than that of First Kiss's.
And, omg, talk about "getting down". Forever Love D-Oni has to be a joke of some sort, because I don't get it

Ladymade Star vs. La code de bonne conduite
Another really good matchup. I had to play both these files a few times, and I honestly can't tell you how or why I'm making the decision I'm making right now, but Ladymade Star edges out La code de bonne conduite by a really small margin.

So, basically, everybody besides me sucks at hands. Got it.

TSM: It's on standard because I decided to include an edit of challenge without hands as the heavy chart. Without that, the light and standard charts would have been standard and heavy. Which is good, because it made light come out as a 5, instead of a 3, and nobody should be making 3s. In addition, this is not Pump-style. Pump style would be putting in triples as jumps for the player to bracket. I don't put that in charts very often.
The hands are not BS hard, they fit easily within the 7 foot rating, for a person who has the physical and mental dexterity to go down. They're all simple to position for and very easy to reach.

Telperion: So, you were hoping for hands in Cry of Aether DX, but you hate the hands in Forever Love? There's nothing joking about it, that's actually what I like to play. Cry of Aether only lacked hands because it was actually a song someone requested over a year ago that I only made singles challenge for.

I love seeing charts with actual handplants in them - nobody makes 'em anymore. That said, Forever Love is gonna draw some funny looks at the arcade when passersby hear "step...step, step, step, SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP". I'm not used to doing the major runs in a chart on all fours haha.

Love Is A Danger Zone 2 vs Xlasher
Xlasher.
This was a very difficult decision. Both charts for Love Is A Danger Zone 2 were well put together, and both were uniquely their own. Xlasher, despite what in my opinion was an unnecessary tempo freeze in Measure 24 (I might have used a step, step, JUMP step, step, JUMP following the synth in the background for the emphasis the stops were used for), more captured the feel of the song. Both songs were about the same for me... that feeling of "This is definitely the right chart for the song" made me go with Xlasher.
