And now, we wait for the next theme and the results of Week 3...

Whenever I go to work, I usually put on some Dancemania. I find that the music takes me back to the old days when freestyle, bubblegum dance, and eurobeat were all the rage. This week, I was thinking we all hop into our time machines and go back ten years ago... to go back ten years ago. (or does it make that 20 years?)


For this week, you will step a song that was released before the year 2001. The song can come from anywhere: video games, other BEMANI games, Dancemania, etc. As long as it was released before the new millenium.

Let's get real old school for good measure: ALL of your charts, easiest to hardest, must NOT include freeze arrows, rolls, mines, lifts, or fakes. Yes, this is kind of a call-back to another theme two years ago, but screw it. They didn't have these gimmicks back in the old days.

That should be it! Stay tuned for the results for Week 3 and other good stuff!

Hey! I've got some feedback for weeks 1-3 files here, if anyone's interested in hearing my thoughts.

And I have a question for Tony about the theme. I'm anticipating that older songs may be harder to sync well. Would it be okay to step a cover of a song that was originally released before 2001?

As long as it was released before 2001 as well Otherwise, it doesn't count.

(Also, some older songs may be hard to sync, but I don't think you'd have much trouble with something like, say, Dancemania songs.)

Just to clarify, "before 2001" meaning December 31, 2000 is the last valid release date?

older songs in general aren't actually harder to sync as well, just don't pick any songs before 1983, or any ballads or w/e, and you should be good

Also also, for anyone that cares about this kind of thing I uploaded a custom .zip for Snow Way Out. It's the same exact file but at 115.5 BPM rather than 77 BPM. You know, since the former is the technically correct timing for a waltz.
