DDR 2018 Wishlist

Oh, and I hate to tilt most of the DDR fans, but they should start looking at what makes ITG 13s and 14s work.

This is the absolute minimum of difficulty and ambiguity the first DDR 20 will have. There, you can stop arguing now.
In case you wonder, I've just made that chart in eight hours.

Thing is, Konami believes BPM halving/quartering adds to the difficulty. The music they compose have those kind of gimmicks in mind.

And seeing how clearly different and gimmick-free ITG 13s and 14s are, it's not that hard to understand why people say "Go play ITG instead." That's what you guys want, right? Fast, gimmick-free charts with 16th/24th streams?

That's what I want, anyway. I would much rather people play the game that actually suits their playstyle instead of trying to have their cake and eat it too.

It's a controversial statement but I think people who want 20s in DDR are just selfish.

Yes, I've passed every 19 besides ENDYMION, and even if I couldn't pass a 20 I see no reason that "Oh but can u PASS it?" qualifies as a reason to not have a 20, especially when I specified having a GOOD chart artist (of which none worked on the current 19s). What a bullshit fucking reasoning.

Why would you care so much about having something in a video game that you can't play?

DDR doesn't need a 20. It will eventually get one, but it really doesn't matter. If you want insane charts, Go. Play. ITG. This isn't complicated

For completions sake? For the record, I actually am pretty confident I'd be able to pass a 20 at my peak (it's been years since I've even tried OTP Challenge, hardest thing I've beat recently was fucking Infernoplex).

And also, for the record, I thought I made it clear that I DONT want a Konmai-made 20. I'm all for one made by an outside stepper as the first one, at least to set a benchmark.

Yeah, if made by an actually competent charter it wouldn't be bad, but that's not how it works. Saying "if someone good made it" doesn't mean anything. Of course if someone good at chart making made a chart it's going to be good. It WON'T be made by an outside stepper.

I think a 20 is much on the horizon, too, so I'd rather hope for it to be good than hope it will never exist (even if both probably have a 0.01% chance of happening)

I quite like the 19 this guy made for PARADOXX but the 20 just makes me wonder "if this garbage is what a clearly competent fan makes what will Konami make?"

As fucky as the patterns on PRevo are, at least I can actually audibly hear what most of them are going to in the song. I'm definitely in the minority but I actually don't mind it as far as 19's go.

And since I'm sure someone is going to ask "can you even do it":


I feel like people are also misinterpreting what I said. I don't think most people actually want to see a 20, because I certainly fucking don't. But it seems like anytime someone says "hey i don't like <insert 19> here", someone jumps on them with "GO PLAY ITG" or "CAN YOU EVEN DO IT". You don't have to be Gordon Ramsay to tell someone their food sucks and just because someone dislikes one thing about a game doesn't automatically make them a fanboy of its competitor.

No one responds to "I don't like 19s" with PLAY ITG. People usually say these things in response to people who like them and want 20s.

I have seen people respond to others not liking 19's in that way numerous times, though not necessarily on here.

How about more X-Scale 12s and 13s? :3 (chances are I'd enjoy them without pushing myself too much)

I figured those would be a given, since the mean, median and mode level of difficulty on is 11~12 and most of the tougher songs have a rated between 11-13.

So clearly, the answer is to attack people who call out those that can't clear hard songs but are begging for a 20. That's a little hypocritical, don't you think?
