beatmania IIDX 14 GOLD (PS2) (Japan)

Got mah LE so doesn't really matter to me. Maya's artbook isn't great :\ As an artist myself I can spot many, many flaws.

I think I figured out how to get the VIP room (for single, double might be different). From my experiences, all the songs you play need a culumative difficulty number of >= 20, and the final stage must meet the extra stage criteria, which is:
LEVEL 4 or under, PERFECT COMBO
LEVEL 5 or 6, FULL COMBO
LEVEL 7, 100% GROOVE RADAR at end of song
LEVEL 8, CLEAR

Also, any mod is allowed. I got VIP room with easy and autoscratch. I'm sure you can get it with 5 key as well.

That's all it takes for ES? I didn't know that :\ I used to just think it's to beat level 8's... Never knew you could get it some other way D:

Question, How can I get the "Original course setting" mode?, i can't see it in the menu

Ha, I ordered it a week and a bit before it came out, but it got stuck in parcel force and I could only pick it up yesterday

Also, the Original Course Setting is somewhere inside the expert menu. I think I remember reading you need to press a button (probably select/start) while on an original course. I can't quite check at the moment though.

Press START twice to get the list of songs, then hold SELECT to edit the course.

by the way, Dans in Gold are trickier than Distorted, I can clear the Dan 4 in Distorted, but I just can pass Dan 3 in Gold

Yeah I thought it was just me, but the DANs are considerably harder than DistorteDs in both singles and doubles.

Pardon my dull-wittedness, what is a "DAN"?

Also, can someone give me a sound, rational explanation: I passed FAXX [n], an 8, with 96% and three 6's, and I still haven't even come *remotely* close to passing Metallic Mind [n], a 4. What the hell was Konami smoking when they rated that song a 4?

Another also, I'm still raging over the fact that the entire beginner mode did not adequately prepare me for this game's monster 3's and 4's. I'm past that now, but still; the learning curve is way too steep, and it seems like this game was targeted at people who were already VERY experienced at the game. But whatever, I'm working on it.

It's a course. Labeled Kyu 9-Dan 10. They're kind of like level trackers to see where you're at. I beat Dan 6 a little while ago.

Oh start playing 5s with Easy on even if you're going to fail it.. Playing where you're at aka 3s and 4s isn't going to do you any good.

I'm mostly playing 5's and a few 6's right now, but I still don't see Konami's justification for Metallic Mind being a 4, with FAXX (8) being easier.

Metallic Mind [n] is so easy though @____@ It's probably the transitions from white to black that have you messed up, which definitely takes a while to get used too. But I'm only speculating as to what challenges you're facing.

Haha, GBS that IS pretty weird.. But I get that a lot, especially in HAPPY SKY. I can pass some of the harder 9s on Hyper but hardly any 8s. And I still can't pass VJARMY yet.

Also, I cleared 5-dan, which seemed to be a lot easier than DistorteD's one, but yeah, the rest seem a lot harder.
Also, the AAAs are just rolling in now!! I have 19 in GOLD, several of which are Perfect. Taking a break from IIDX and then coming back does wonders.

Blind Justice=Extremely easy 6. Practice with it or something.
