X scale or X2 scale?

The scale is still out of 20.

They changed up menu screens a tad, they are now a nice blue hue. The rest of the interface is the same though.

The shake mode on has difficulties for BASIC/DIF, no heavy stuff.

Good thing we already have clean audio of ABD and DR 09.

And technically these could go in the X2/HP3 group.

They really screwed the pooch on this one. They didn't bother to re-rate some songs, so Open Your Eyes is still a 5 despite Flowers being an 11. But let's get onto the meat of it, the new songs.

The TRUE LOVE remix has awkward, trashy steps, just like everything from HP JP. It's rated a 7. This would be right on the original scale, but apparently we're not using that, and this is absolutely not on the same level as BABY BABY GIMME YOUR LOVE or PEACE(^^)v. It's more like a 9 with it's random jumps.

DYNAMITE RAVE is an 8, and it's an X 8, or even a 9 for sure. Actually, this was the only song that was spot on; the rating and the steps are in sync. Steps are not bad. Kind of bland.. Feels like the X step team did this. Though since the original was a 12, and this is an 8, it would have been nice to have something in between, since the song feels so empty, knowing how it played back in the 3rdMIX days. This one's pretty much just simple 8th streams and a few jumps.

A Brighter Day is pretty disappointing [EDIT: well, I suppose disappointing isn't the word. Forgettable. That's it. This stepchart is not particularly memorable]. It's rated a 9 but should be an 8. This song is so empty, the middle of it feels like a Difficult chart, I had to check to make sure I was still on Expert. The beginning is a freeze-a-thon, which was all right, but the song feels like it's had so many steps removed, hopefully to make way for the Challenge chart. Since there's not a lot going on, I can't really comment on the flow of the steps. It has some simple crossovers. This one just desperately needs that Challenge chart.

Overall, it's hard to comment with so few songs. The ratings are hellishly wrong again. Steps so far aren't inspiring, but they haven't given us anything difficult to work with. I generally find things in the 10-12 range fun, but there was none of that here. DYNAMITE RAVE was done well for its rating, at least. A Brighter Day could be awesome if they play up those freezes and add some more streams in the Challenge chart.

A Brighter Day seems okay enough. It's not incredibly hard, but there is supposed to be an oni chart in X2...

Just went in, there are NO SSQ files, but there are .gen files (anyone have any idea what those may be? I'll upload em), with the appropriate song names.

I assume the banners resemble what they look like on X2, there's like one grainy video of the X2 songlist from E3.

Gen files? Don't know what that extension is used for other than Sega Genesis roms.

They seem to be about the right size to include all of the data of each song. (Steps, graphics, music.)

These .gen files are pretty big, hmm.

Also, I think your Dynamite Rave video is broken . It's been processing forever.

I would like to point out the twilight cloudy sky background is really hot.

I've decided the X step team is behind this, much to my delight. A Brighter Day follows patterns very well, despite being very easy, and it shows an eye for detail that we never got from the DDR S and HP2 chart writers who just kind of wrote whatever the hell they wanted.

DYNAMITE RAVE is growing on me, the steps are actually kind of fun as one of those warm-up/cool-down songs.

Really looking forward to seeing some 10+ songs though...

Nope, it's some custom file format.

So major bump for the announcement of DDR S for Windows Mobile devices to coincide with the launch of the Windows Marketplace in Japan.

WIsh it was on the Android platform instead.

I agree so much, except I would be kinda out of luck since the droid doesnt support multitouch yet. Either way, Im sure there will eventually be a stepmania port, if android gets popular enough.
