Admit it, the fact that the incident with the ratings continued until it was stopped by a higher power shows pretty clearly that at least some people here effectively are children, because they can't be trusted to decide not to do something that causes problems. Most of the frequent posters won't cause problems, but there will be other people who will cause problems. That will make it worse for everybody.Several years ago, I was part of a forum that had been abandoned by the lone admin for for several months. Some people stayed the same, and did nothing bad, but some new people showed up and decided to rash the place by making huge posts of random garbage. It was so bad that one of the users made a sort of proxy for the site that would take your login credentials, use them for you, and show you the pages, but with posts by blacklisted users removed. I don't want to see that happen again.

Amazingly while this was happening, my weekend was going straight to Hell in other places at the same time.

Well, at least my browser won't crash again.
As for why the ratings dropped, most of mine reset to 0. If that happened, people will probably re-rate you what they had before and your rating will be back to its normal level.
