Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet were successful. And those games were basically spiritual successors of Classic Megaman and Classic Sonic respectively.
So just because Mighty Number 9 was a failure doesn't mean that all Kickstarter projects are scams. All i'm saying is that i'm hoping Yooka-Laylee will be good and not the shitshow that MN9 was.

Shovel Knight was more of a general 'We Love NES' game, with only a few elements taken specifically from Mega Man. If I had to use just one game for comparison, it would be DuckTales.

Yeah, but it's definitely not the end of the world, it was a fairly cheap pair. Besides the shock of seeing them destroyed like that, I felt I had to check up on the chihuahua and make sure he was okay after chewing on those insulators and part of the plastic. And he's fine.

The difference is that Shovel Knight and Freedom Planet were not made by the same people that made the source material for what inspired those games. Yooka-Laylee is, so there is always the chance that it will turn out like Mighty No. 9 as well. I'm still holding out hope though.
