Fuck you, AT&T, and fuck you, Best Buy.
I was getting ready for A-Kon 20 and I decided to buy a wireless card from Best Buy so I could avoid the inevitably clogged-up internet connection the hotel would have and post videos and shit of my adventures there. The sales rep recommended the AT&T air card. I'm a gullible young retard, so I took him up on the offer.
As the installation finishes, my laptop asks me to restart to complete the setup process, so I click the Restart button, watch as the boot process reminds me what company I bought the computer from, the screen fades black, and...
...the end.
The hell? Where's my desktop? Where's ANYTHING?! Restart x3 with same results. Restart in Safe Mode. Same. Time to tell Best Buy their shit fucked my computer.
Unfortunately, their ever-so-brilliant Geek Squad couldn't figure out how to get my machine working again, and they couldn't offer a complete refund for the product that essentially made me sign a two-year contract to brick my laptop. Oh, but I can trade it for another product that could potentially do the same thing again if/when I get it working. How nice. They also recommended I bring the computer back to Staples (where I bought it) and trade it for a working one under warranty, because why should Best Buy have to fix their own mistake. It's not THEIR responsibility to sell things that actually work.
So I take the laptop back to Staples to trade my brick in, but I don't have a copy of the warranty, and because Staples apparently doesn't keep record of any transaction they make, there's no proof that I ever bought the computer from them. Sory, no deal.
So finally I took it to a computer repair shop so they could back up all my shit and make my computer not suck anymore. And it only cost $125, two weeks of my life, and untold amounts of anger and frustration.
Then I wanted to contact the owner of Tokyo Game Action to see if I could buy his DDR 5th Mix since I wouldn't be able to attend the auction, then I look at Shinji's thread and find out that the auction's already been and gone, and with it, probably my only chance to get my own AC 5th Mix.
Fuck my life.
...So, how've things been going with you guys?

The first day of school was quite bad. There was this really long line that I had to go to get inside the school. Then, there's some long lines (3, I think) just beyond the gate where you have to go (doesn't matter which) to get your temperature checked (or my ear just because they had to dig something in my ear). Those long lines made me late for my 7:30 am class (NS 101 aka a mix of Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Science). I technically have no classes today since our prof in Statistics failed to show up, and that's my only class for Tuesday.

"jubeat knit one, purl two" |
I started typing this post about 5 minutes before time to go. Usually, I pack it in the case, but today, I just carried it in my hand. I tried to post this while I was in the car, but we rode away from our wireless connection before I could post it. I decided to take the computer, as well as the case, with me, thinking I would have a good window on breaks. When I got there, a few minutes early as usual, I started up the computer, but the teacher arrived a couple of minutes later, so I couldn't really do anything. Then, I spent most of my break time looking over my notes. Class got out about 10 minutes early, but even then, I didn't think to get around to this during the 20 minutes before lab. I got to leave halfway through, though, so here I am now, posting something I typed 3 hours ago.
Even on Universe 3, Dancin' My Way has improperly quantitized 12th notes.
When I first played Heaven is a '57 metallic gray and Injection of Love (Hina Mix), I just thought the green arrows were off arrows somewhere in between 16ths (which is actually 32nds, but I was fairly new to DDR and not yet familiar with SM's Edit Mode, so I didn't think that deeply). I played Burning Heat! (3 option MIX) on SM and figured it was just some really fast steps. Later, I realized what "12th notes" were, but didn't fully make the connection because DDR and most simfiles quantitate them as 32nds/64ths, so even then, I still thought Burning Heat! had 8th notes in it, which I actually told someone. She denies that those green and orange arrows are actually triplets because they're not purple and she doesn't understand the concept of 32nd/64th approximation. "12th notes" isn't an actual music term, which complicates things even more. That's most of the reason behind 32nd/64th approximation, ergo an unnecessarily tough to PA bag.
There's also the notorious Healing-D-Vision. Hell, they've even used them in places where pseudo-triplets would be better (Captain Jack (even the quarter note was rounded off
), Broken My Heart, Drop Out FNSMM).
Damnit, in DDR, 90% of charts don't make sense.
In the custom communities, 90% of charts are too hard for me.
For double, in DDR, 70% of charts don't make sense.
In the custom communities, 99% of charts aren't doubles, and of the remaining 1%, 90% are beyond my skills. So many of them simply don't satisfy your needs. I've presented my stance against forced doublestepping many times, although on PS2 games, if a song comes by with a nice step rhythm, I think it's cool, not caring how much doublestepping there is, simply because good rhythms are hard to come by with the PS2 team. This usually isn't an issue on the Xbox/360, though. Similarly, I tend to lean towards simfiles with Doubles charts just because so few have them.
That smiley goes well with the "ow" in your avatar.

Look over that. Not a single one of those streams should be 8ths, and that 16th stream should be straight 12ths.
It's like someone honestly could not recognize that the steps didn't follow the music.

Also, Up The Bracket had 16th triplets and was a 7.
If it makes you feel any better, Nu Flow is a 9 on Doubles. Then again, a lot of Ultramix/Unleashed songs have off ratings, i.e. ratings that should be higher (Meaning on Life, Fire Dub and Something Wonderful's Festival charts were rated higher despite having less chaos. The last makes up for it, but the first two...not so much, certainly not Fire Dub. What's with a junk-filled 6 being replaced by a naked 7?) and Doubles charts rated higher, despite being autogens of Singles (silly ratings for autogens is a double whammy). Also, Up The Bracket had 16th triplets and was a 7.
So Nu Flow and Up the Bracket are in good company with Something Wonderful and Gorgeous 2012.

I'm sure the entire stepwriting staff was replaced, as Ultramix 2 & Unleashed 2 were 10^10^10^10 times better than their predecessors.

It's not the usual bad quantization thing, which you can sort of ignore if you make yourself not care about PA.Post #2738 · Posted at 2009-06-17 12:52:36am 16.1 years ago
