EDIT: If anyone downloaded my RPG, I apologize I noticed a few bugs...so I took down the download link and will be re-testing the game.

Meet For The Love Of God by Damien Hirst. Costs £50 million. You could buy that...or build three schools. Your choice.

Was there anything special about the copy?
its existenceSSBM is fucking rare as shit to find, and you're lucky to find a decent condition of just the disc for $30.
I have 2 copies (thanks mom) but why not get a wii, add homebrew, and download it?

homebrew > normal.
I would of paid for the game that wasn't near mint, and homebrew it so I never need the disk (Yes this is 100% legal since you own the game)

The moment I decided to homebrew my Wii (as a gift for my girlfriend since I have a Wii U now) is the moment I felt all my time with the console was a waste. It is sooo easy to homebrew, and the end product is very fool-proof. I shouldn't have bought so many Virtual Console games...

I homebrewed it so I can back up my games into a hard drive. I have a younger brother that scratched up all my gamecube games, I didn't want the same happen to my wii. I paid for everything still because I AM A GOOD BOY AND I SUPPORT NINTENDO!

I try to avoid emulating games I don't own when I use my Raspberry Pi, unless the game in mind fits one of three criteria:
1. A single copy of the game will run me over a hundred dollars AND the producer does not make a profit on the game anymore. For example, Shining Force CD with its original case usually goes past the $300 mark. I don't count Earthbound in this case because it's now on New 3DS and Wii U.
2. I already own at least one version of the game. As long as I have already spent legal tender on the game, I should have every right in the world to dump it onto my Raspberry Pi.
3. The game in mind has been released for free on select devices, or is generally considered a freeware title. This includes most Atari games, Pac-Man, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Bejewled, and the like.

To be fair, thirty to fifty bucks for a used copy of Melee is still very respectable; the original game retailed around fifty anyway, and inflation drives it up to at least sixty-three. Besides, Fighting Games have very strong cult followings these days, and Melee is up there alongside Street Fighter in popularity.

Are we dancing around legal issues like we haven't all used an emulator for game we didn't own before?

When I was younger (like 10 or so), I used to emulate a lot because I could never afford getting copies of older games. These days, I try to at least abide by personal standards before using a rom of a game.

i'm not responding to any of gadgetjax's post
i fail to see the harm in buying physical copies and playing games right from the source
i don't do the whole emulation thing
i prefer the real cut and dry zoo wee mama deal
and if it comes down to $60, hey yo
it's $60 well spent

I think homebrew is completely fine - so long as you aren't pirating a game you don't own with it, anyway.
