I'm not saying it'd be the spark of revival, but it may help ensure that the game can grab the interest of passersby who may just be roaming the arcade, this type of thing:

"Oh hey, it's that dancing game, I'm not good at it. Wait, what's that song playing? Is that that metal group with the Japanese singers? Heh, lemme try it for kicks."

I've gotten reports (and some hard data) that suggests that casual players do respond well to this kind of thing, at least in the Touhou example and in a case like BABYMETAL. Bad Apple remains one of the top songs played in Pump it Up Prime, only below a handful of idol groups including Crayon Pop, whose song "Bar Bar Bar" (in a somewhat similar scenario to BABYMETAL) went viral in the US.

Not sure if the site will redirect you, but this is the evidence, and it lasts for the past few months of data since the song was patched in.

Pump it Up actually planned all the way back in summer of 2012 to have multiple A-list K-Pop acts, including BIG BANG, 2NE1, and Psy in their latest game of the time. (There's a trailer back when they thought it was a done deal) Then they had a location test in the late fall, and guess whose song was missing... Even though the track ("Right Now") was only big in Korea, "Gangnam Style" had raised Psy's popularity to the point that he or his label were able to demand a far bigger licensing charge to get any of his songs in a rhythm game, which Andamiro balked at. Considering KONAMI isn't even licensing big budget local acts for DDR as of late, there's no chance Psy is within their reach.

I know i keep bringing this up but would a label like Monstercat be a good for DDR?
I mean, it is a pretty big label which, I guess, would also beg the question of whether or not it would be attainable.
