Because ITG spams 16th streams? If Konami did too, guess what ITG fans will say? Don't guess. The answer is the same as the response when Konami revealed "Shock Arrows".
Well, not really. Konami has been using death runs for awhile, and several features that are essentially mines have been implemented in various incarnations. It's just that Konami is looking for difficulty in the wrong places. They're idea is to spruce up the boss songs with pauses, BPM changes, tough jump-step patterns, etc., but they have to be about 300 or higher. Everything else stays pretty much stagnant, thus essentially widening the gap from "regular song" to "boss song". "Boss songs" involve difficulty which barely exists in the song, while for "regular songs", they blatantly avoid some of the natural difficulty. 400 BPM eighth note death runs are okay, but sixteenth runs for a mid-tempo song should be kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, the Challenge difficulty can't help that now, because it's become "special" to the next degree with shock arrows.

"I'm honestly pissed off."
I wish they had made an actual chart for Arrabbiatta. They didn't add artificial stops or bpm changes, and they used practically all the notes in it for steps. If only they hadn't decided to go "LOL, crossovers, doublesteps, and jumps". I still haven't passed it because I'm never sure what foot to start on, and I can't double step that fast.

Hey.

Crazy double steps have existed in the past but few people complained about them. o_O

I already stated my opinion on Arrabbiatta. They just need to take out those spins in the middle of the death streams. I kinda like Arrabbiatta's take on crossovers. Belly-dancer-ish. Surprised

I just put shuffle on Arrabbiatta and it's pretty fun.

Pie has found the solution.

Put the Left, Right, or Shuffle mod on Arrabbiatta Heavy. Most or all of the crossovers are now gone. Tongue

Okay, I'll admit, it's been months since I made an attempt at it. I'll try it again when I get home. After Monolith Challenge. (I got ~20 seconds from the end last night O.O)

I even like "classic style" double stepping like in Freeway Shuffle.

Arrabbiata, however, is excessive.

Arrabbiata is also a sauce. I know it's not really on topic, but I figured I would share that fact.

But yeah, even though that song is great, the Expert chart isn't fun. I think it would be nice if they made the Expert steps into Challenge steps, and created a new and better set for Expert. This would also be ideal if they brought back some songs from DDR CLUB VERSION, except almost every single chart should be redone.

Just like Xepher. That song have potential filled with a lot of 16th notes. If added with Shock arrows, it is not much different with ITG. Bosses songs not must have Incredible BPM, but ultra slow or confusing songs can be a bosses songs (Especially filled with tons of 16th or 12th ).

Even those aren't very good in a stepchart. It makes you think the writer's priority was only rhythm, not both rhythm and step pattern. That's why I tend to like charts that keep that in mind while not being afraid to mix in plenty of tricky patterns.

I see you have a fear of spinning, Roy Surprised

Double steps or "Spinning" has been in DDR since the first game. I believe most or all of the charts Pre-MAX had that stuff. Some of the basic charts (And PH Standard Annoyed) still have this

Spinning step patterns (L-D-R-U-L) are good ONLY when they turn you all the way back. If they don't, that's complete crap.

As for tricky step patterns, other than crossovers and the dreaded "anchor arrow streams" (I.E: U-L-U-R-U-D-U-L-U-R-U), I can't see any other tricky patterns for them to use.

...Actually, step-jumps would be in that category but they have been abusing it. Annoyed

Yeah they probably won't say anything until its like a week of the release, but I wouldn't doubt that there already in, since they were in DDR Supernova 2 jp, and not in the USA.

I just hope they dont annouce the complete song list before the game comes out, like they did with Supernova 2. That really ticked me off.

anyone else got ticked off when they annouced the complete songlist for Supernova 2?

But of course I still bought the game Happy

We got ticked off mainly because we knew what all of the unlocks were for the AC version, too. The reaction to the high amount of old songs probably would've been the same if we didn't know it, though.

Double steps are EXCELLENT when used in slower songs or songs with the same rhythm the whole way through. Otherwise it gets boring.
