Max 1 is a pretty straightforward game imo. If you want to take time to unlock things (good luck if you don't know Japanese btw), get STR!KE. If you want some revivals, get Party Collection.

Thanks for helping me choose which DDR to get first (most people answered my question on the chat), I'm gonna choose to get DDR Party Collection first. Then maybe several days afterwards I'll order DDR Max 1, then maybe a month after that I'd get DDR Str!ke (and I indeed can't read Japanese worth shit, but my sister studies that language, and I kinda understand where everything is though I can't read it), then for my birthday in May I'll try to get DDR Extreme.

What's with all the urban StepMania themes? Why does there exist both a Cityscape theme and a sm.urbanized theme? What kind of songs do these themes go with?

I forgot all about the Cityscape theme. I remember sm.urbanized not being too bad for an SM 3.9 theme. I still think the best theme from the 3.9 era was either Cyberiastyle 4, System Zero, or Techno Fiend 3.1. Aww some good memories.
