It's difficult for me to believe that I have actually come of age, becoming 21, the big TWO-ONE, Blackjack, adulthood. Those of you who have known me long enough will know I've been through quite a lot in my short life, but I am very thankful to have survived all of it. I cherish every single second I'm not dead in the ground, and even more thankful to have found a community where I fit right in, and blend in so well with all you guys. I could definitely not have done it without all of your help everyone (you know who you are). Thank you so much for everything everyone, I really look forward to more here in the community.
Anyways, I'm going to be busy all day long in class, then celebrating afterwards, so my sincerest apologies if I go silent tonight, or if I do not respond to anything right away for the duration of today.

"Still here, somehow." |
A lot has happened since I forgot about my account here. I'll go tell you some of what has happened to me since then, but not ALL of it. Otherwise, I'd be here all day.
December of 2011: I spend the Christmas weekend at Disneyland, since I haven't been there since 2006.
Beginning of 2012's summer: After spending four years--I enrolled in it late into November of 2008--I graduate from a private school.
August of 2012: I visit Hawaii for a week. It was my first time there.
September of 2012: I enroll in Shorecrest High School to begin my freshman year.
Early May of 2013: I move to Everett.
Summer of 2013:
- I get a new computer, since I stupidly punched my previous one's screen out.
- I join Tumblr, but I abandon my account late into 2014.
Fall of 2013: I enroll in Mariner High School for the first few months of my sophomore year, but then I get enrolled in another private school since I had a hard time coping with Mariner High's anti-electronics laws.
After Thanksgiving of 2013: I enroll in a new private school that...ends up being Hell for me. This lasted until 2015's summer began.
October of 2014: My mom and dad divorce; now my mom's my only true parent. Somehow, my behavior becomes really bad from this point onwards.
February of 2015: I send my computer to Best Buy to get its speakers and CD drive fixed up. Ten days later, it returns, but it's not in the same state that it was before I sent it there. I then do a System Restore on it, but then I end up doing some irreparable damage to it. (Details will be added as soon as I can get 'em down.)
June of 2015: I finally leave that wretched private school. All of a sudden, after playing a lot of rounds as Villager in Wii U!Smash 4, I get driven into the Animal Crossing fandom. (Since I joined Tumblr, I never liked the series due to lots of people playing New Leaf. It all changed when Villager somehow changed my mind about ACNL after playing as them for awhile.)
Late September of 2015: I enroll in an even better private school, even though it's all the way on Mercer Island.
Yeah, that's quite a bit I had to say. I'm still not happy about my behavior, though...

How do you mess up a computer by doing a system restore?

How do you mess up a computer by doing a system restore?
I haven't the faintest clue how I managed to mess it up. Here are some of the symptoms that I've written down on a .txt file:- Windows Explorer will sometimes crash if I don't right-click on the desktop and its programs/files/etc. enough.
- My computer has a chance of freezing when I install a new font. This eventually led to me semi-retiring from making simfile graphics.
- I can't seem to move around files with very long (≥240 characters?) filenames anymore.
- On the rare occasion when I turn my computer back on, its sound drivers will somehow stop existing until I restart it.
- Speaking of which, sometimes when Windows Explorer starts up, I can't adjust the sound AT ALL without using F9-F11 until I restart Windows Explorer again.
- The most annoying part of all this: if I leave my computer unattended for awhile (I don't know specifically how long) while I have a program selected, it's going to stop being selected for a moment and then get back to being selected every 10 seconds according to the computer clock. This was a MAJOR nuisance when I still used an Xbox 360 controller to play games.
I've also had to deal with these problems for nearly a year now.

...and this is why people need to get familiar with using Backup and/or Cloning software. It's always a good idea to have your entire system backed up on a second drive; particularly one that can boot into Windows/Whatever OS you use. And when I say a second drive, I don't mean a second partition on the SAME drive.
I haven't trusted System Restore for years, as it hardly ever works. It's basically like gambling with your data at this point. That's why i've moved on to 3rd party software such as Acronis True Image to manage my backups, because I can't trust Microsoft to do the right thing anymore; especially since i'm on Windows 10 (my new computer came with it pre-installed).
Have you tried Googling said problems? You're probably not the only one who has these issues. And it's probably a good idea to list the names and models of your hardware and OS when troubleshooting your PC while searching for solutions online. Or perhaps you may have caught a piece of malware that you didn't know about that could be screwing up your system. It happens to the best of us.
If all else fails, there's always the option of buying a new PC or reinstalling Windows on your current PC.

Just re-install Windows. Seriously.
I've had lots of plans to save up money for a new laptop with the same specs as my curent one (1600x900 pixel resolution, Windows 8, etc.), but those plans never work for me due to my impulsive habit to spend lots of my money at once.Reinstalling Windows, however...? I probably don't want to do that, since I often don't have the urge to archive a lot of my stuff before reformatting my hard drive due to my pointless laziness. I'm also certain that I don't own any Windows 8 installation CDs; perhaps I could talk to my dad about that.
And just so you know, I don't think that many people on the internet have encountered or are aware of the problems I'm having. I mean, I Googled "how to fix pc's affected by system restore", but all it gave me was stuff on how to use System Restore. That goes to show how much I don't like using Google.
