yep.. for me, dead end GRS is not enjoyable.

I hpoe there'll be more "enjoyable" stepchart in the next DDR

Dead End GRS is the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen. Sure it's hard, but it should at least have some sort of flow to it, and it doesn't have one at all. Even the new boss songs have a pretty good flow in the steps, so would it really be so hard to make a half decent chart rather than hit nearly every beat in the song with a really sloppy chart?

Then with the step ratings, they should indeed be changed, but like what several others think here, they should go up to 12 like IIDX. For now, going to 13 or more would make DDR start to look like an ITG rip-off, and I really don't want that to happen. ITG's cool, and DDR's cool, but don't treat them exactly the same. And I agree with DDR needing to use Challenge more. Not necessarliy for every song, but it would be cool to see them on songs with more complex rhythms that got low leveled Heavy charts.

delirious, good point. And yes, I know Dead end GRS isn't for enjoyment. It's more like a song that "if you can pass this you are awesome and now have bragging rights".

It's really a matter of opinion really. I'd say Dead End GRS is the hardest to PA, while PR and FELM are somewhat tied for just the hardest to pass. At least that's kinda what it came down to in that thread about voting for the new hardest song in the game or whatever it was.

Dead End GRS does follow the beat to the song pretty well. It's just the jacks. Who the hell puts 3 step 16th jump jacks in a 190 BPM Song? Then there are the random two step 16th jacks sandwiched between two jumps. Someone needs to beat the guy who made that chart in the head with a 2x4. Annoyed

And I hate the fact that people instantly go ZOMG PRO IS TEH HARDEST!!!!1!1!1! and completely forget the true demon of the SN2 Boss songs. PHO has 100+ more steps than PRO, crossover stream-jumps combos, a bag section, and a demonic death run complete with a single jump inside for added hilarity.

PRO is high-end nine footer until the death run. It's mostly quarter note crossovers with some eighth notes sprinkled in. At least HDVO had some nastiness in the 180 section.

Uhh...okay. Laughing Out Loud

Although one could argue that PHO's death run is not as hard relative to the rest of the song as PRO's, which makes PHO seem easier because you're pretty much ready for it to happen. They both have insane crossovers and what not, and PH is 300 compared to PR's 400. I don't know if I myself think this, since I've never played ever one.

I'd say that they were about the same in difficulty. PR's is shorter, but faster. PH's is slower, but much longer, and features jumps.

Yeah, and in the first half of PHO, the jumps are frequently set up to require you to move both feet to hit them, on top of whatever you need to keep your balance through the crossovers. For stamina reasons, I expect PRO to be no-barred before PHO. Heck, I can get all the way to the death run of PRO, and I'm not even that good. But at my skill level, it's like trying to judge the height of skyscrapers when standing on the street. The different levels blur together, and I lose count. Plus the architects made some floors randomly larger than others. I'd be better able judge if I was actually near the height of their tops.

Anway, back on topic, I second the vote for more enjoyable charts, with my own slant. I'm sick of step jumps. Every time I play a chart with lots of step jumps, I serious consider switching on Jump Off 1, so that I won't have to deal with that crap anymore. In no way do step jumps make a song more fun, they just make it harder, and more painful.

TPBM actually likes step jumps.

All it really takes is a well placed jump-step-jump segment, and it could make the chart that much more fun. If it's done randomly throughout the song, then it's kinda lame... It just needs to fit with a rhythm that connects well with that kind of section.
