Cowlauncher knows as much as any of us do - nothing. He says that there is no MAX2-like system because he can't see it. And I don't know that one exists either - that's why I called it a rumor in the first sentence of the paragraph that I mentioned it. I just heard about it from the people that I talked to at TGA. No one on the Internet has said anything about it as far as I know. I was actually hoping that you guys would know something.
I wouldn't take my news from a guy who starts a starts a blog post with "Well SN2 was not the complete package I was hoping for." Goon. And for his information, there are 8 oni courses, not 9, and we have all of the ones we're supposed to. The Japanese version also shipped with just four courses - the same four we have - and the other 4 were added two at a time during the 2nd and 3rd Internet rankings. Yes, that would suck if we never got the other 4 courses. I'm sure we will eventually get all 8, and I bet there are more than 8 courses too. The Japanese aren't done unlocking their game either. But I can make Cowlauncher happy: the last time Konami used unlock codes was also PNM 14 and those codes didn't require the operator to be present. They were the type of code that a player could enter on the title screen. So if we do get the Extreme-style unlock system that he wants then the good news is that now a negligent operator won't be able to stop us from entering codes. (I've seen an arcade that intentionally entered the 1-25 code on Extreme because they didn't want PSMO to destroy their pads.)
Supernova1 AC (NA) had no song unlocks, just extra stages, and every oni course up to Boss Rush IV was unlocked on day one. That to me says that the game shipped "done." Supernova2 however is obviously holding out on us. If SN2 had no unlock system at all then they would've done what they did with SN1 and made all of the IR stuff available on the first release. Konami might have been mean enough to never allow Chaos as a first stage, but the song wasn't really "locked". Bloody Tears however is really locked and I'm positive that Konami wants to see us rocking out to that song in the future. That's why I'm so sure that something is planned.
I think the reason the game was delayed was because Betson wanted to make the single largest batch of SN2s that they could in order to save money. They took orders for a long time and apparently spent forever building the kits. They might not have dedicated enough manpower to the project. TGA's SN1 -> SN2 kit looks like it came with a replacement for the glass, metal face plate, and marquee. I'll ask the regular who installed the kit (the owner was too busy, seriously) next time he signs online.
EDIT: Beaten to it. I took too long.

Whoops, sorry about that. I almost forgot that every single SN license is in SN2.
But interesting report, to say the least.
So apparently, we only have 4 new courses. Which, I'm willing to bet, are D-Style, SuperNOVA 2, BPM 130, and FUTURE ROCK. Damn it... I got my hopes up too much. I was hoping for a fully-unlocked machine so I could play Grand Cross Ver. Gold.
You guys think I should put in my two cents also with Betson and Konami? I mean... granted that there isn't a SN2 machine here in my area just yet... But I can already see that this isn't going well, and we got the very short end of the SN2 stick. Shorter than we had hoped for...
In any case, I'd like to contribute to doing something about this game because we were totally jipped. Japan gets Zukin Wars and e-amuse, Konami promises us we'll be in the same stage as Japan, and Betson fucks it all up by not delivering what Konami said to do...
I'm almost as disappointed as when US SN2 CS came out... I can't decide what's worse at this point...

"...but where's MY machine" |
Well, with SN2 US CS, you at least knew what to expect. I mean, it's an American version. The pattern goes it's going to have a couple of songs from the arcade mix it's named after, a crapload of terrible licenses, a small handful of good licenses, and a few random scattered songs that weren't released in other American versions when they were supposed to be.
With the AC version, we had NO idea what to expect until the game actually came out. And now that it's out and it's looking like we aren't getting any unlocks... there's much more reason to be disappointed here.
And trust me: I, at least, am very, very disappointed.

What disappoints me more than the locked content is the lack of score saving. Without e-amuse (bravo, Betson
) we cannot save and remember scores. At least with the locked content, there's still a chance that an unlock CD or unlock system is present/will be made. But we know that unless some new CD that really revamps the machine's score-saving mechanisms is made, we won't get to save scores since there is not e-amuse.
Imagine: At my arcade, I am the best player in the local area, as far as I know. I haven't even passed CHAOS OMES yet (failed 5 arrows from end, got highscore 90.9), so that can pretty much tells you there aren't any truly good players in the area, at least none that play at the arcade. It would be a HUGE deal if anyone around here passed NGO ES or TMP EES, and noone would know about it now since scores aren't saved.
By the way: Still waiting in anticipation for my arcade's installment of SN2!
Should be there in 1-2 weeks.

You should definitely e-mail Konami and Betson about SN2 to inquire about or request unlocks. Just make sure you're civilized about it
. I think our response to SN was part of what got us an upgrade disk.

I’d see what happens in a couple of months and then we might know something about unlocks. Intel then, we are just going to have to suck up to 33 songs.

i'll just add the worth while songs to my flash drive and play them on r21 since my arcade took out SN1, put ITG2 back in, and wont be getting SN2 :p
hell, i have a ton of sims and themes maybe i can talk them into letting me hack the machine and putting all the SN and SN2 songs on it(and then some).

I am having trouble comprending how betson can possible make the same retarded mistake two games in a row, especially after how everyone was outraged the first time. I think they screw the fans over on purpose cause they think its funny.

Don't you have to pay for an upgrade disc? If so, then they most likely mess things up on purpose to get a little more money from arcades.
That's one financial viewpoint.
Another viewpoint is that they're pretty lazy and really don't care, knowing that we'll compain if it isn't done right the first time through.
I really don't like Betson right now.

Whats even worse, their response to this kinda thing seems to be either "oh well, deal with it" or no response at all.

Thanks Catastrophe for your insight. Hopefully, your speculation will turn out true. Your post is refreshing amidst a endless sea of negativitiy.
Although, I have a question. Didn't TGA have e-Amuse at some point?

I would like to e-mail both Betson and Konami in regards to the current situation. I would sincerely appreciate it if you could post a viable e-mail address, or direct link to portions of each of their websites on which I could leave feedback. I know one person doing it may not help the cause per se, but if everyone was shown where to do it, I think we'd see just about everyone who reads this thread sending out an e-mail.

Those are the Betson e-mails. Unfortunately, I can't find any e-mail address regarding arcade sales in the U.S. for Konami. Little help?
@silenttype01: The upgrade discs for SN1 were sent out to everyone who had bought a SN machine automatically, and there was no charge for it. All SN dedicabs/kits now come with that upgrade disc.

Does anyone know roundabouts how much a conversion kit would cost, in case I need to use that info to help coerce my neighborhood Gameworks into getting one? >_>
Right now, I'm banking on a "Betson'll give us the unlocks somehow, eventually" line of thought.

Well, at ATEI, there was a Konami leaflet about e-Amuse, featuring a DDR machine sillhouette and the words 'Coming Soon?', so I guess you might be getting e-Amuse in the not too distant future after all...
