I was surprised myself too. Not a big fan of JAZZ or HOUSE but the song is quite catchy.

Just a tip since you're a beginner, but revivals (grey songs) tend to have MUCH harder Normals than the new songs. I've been playing Normal mode a bit to raise my AAA count, and I've noticed that the new charts are quite beginner-friendly, snowstorm normal was very well done IMO. Back in the old days Light7-Normal charts were often watered-down versions of the 7k-Hyper charts, which made them quite hard for someone who was just trying to get into the game.

Yep thats right, they do it for 1st style & 2nd style is orignally silver & gold, but the CS is white & yellow

I'm actually having quite a deal of trouble with the newer songs... I did enjoy Snow Storm and have played and passed it a couple times, but many new songs like Golden Cross and Metallic Mind are insane for 4's. XD
At this point, I'm still limited to Honey Punch, Snow Storm, Treasure Star, and the handful of 3-'s, like GhostBusters. Not that they are bad songs, but only being able to play such a small fraction of the songs is quite annoying. Don't get me started on unlockables, which I crave for in vain.
The jump in difficulty between the 3's on beginner and the 3's/4's on freeplay is too big for me to get over, especially when it comes to hitting black keys. But I'm determined to get good enough to play 8+'s, so I'll plug away at those 4's!Any tips on positions to hold my hands in to play? I've found it easiest to play with the disk on the left (I'm a left-hander
), and I rest my ring- and index-fingers of both hands on all four white keys. I rest my middle fingers on the outer black keys. I shift my left pinky over to spin the disk. I reach over with either index finger to hit the middle black key. I have always had issues with using my thumbs to hit buttons at an angle (as opposed to directly pressing buttons on a Wiimote or GCN controller), so I didn't try anything that involved that.

I dunno, my experience with IIDX is that with time I use more of everything. I started using one hand for the TT and one for the keys, later I started using both hands for the keys, later more fingers of each hand and now I use most of my fingers. Same thing with the hi-speed, I started using very low speeds until I realized that I was able to read faster and faster (until certain day I discovered the wonders of towel/sudden+, but you shouldn't go there yet
).Also, remember that there is training mode for practicing all those weird patterns. It's quite helpful.

I have a question, on the first post it says the all scratch mod is available, but how do I put it on? I want to try a song with all scratch.

Start on a song that begins with A, then go to songs starting with L, L, S, C, R, while changing the difficulty as you go to each song. You'll hear a noise if you do it right. After that you put on S-Random, and you're done

I just beat X-Rated (normal) with 80% health left and got a border bonus of 5730, is this normal?
Also, I can pass a few 5's now.
Golden Cross is still a beast of a 4, though.

Btw good songs to practice on are snow storm, Second Heaven, Captivate ~CHIKAI~, and Blind Justice. Scorpion Fire by virkato is a monster 5 -_-;; seriously when I first played it, it took me 5 tries.
