I’m not super familiar with anything from 2013 or 2014. Are these under rated?

VEGA is borderline (I can see an argument for it either way). Samurai Shogun isn't even close to a 14, that's an awful take.

Samurai Shogun is like a slightly slower and jankier Paranoia Survivor without the speed changes.

Worth noting that on the DDR Community tier list which is comprised of real play data and not just "feeling", VEGA is only a 14.50. Samurai Shogun is a 14.65.
But then again I think Samurai Shogun is just an easier Paranoia Survivor which I consider around the 15.1 range but the tier list says it's a 15.65, so what do I know.

Paranoia survivor is the easiest a 15 should be, like 15.00

I'm gonna have to give those two a shot tomorrow and see what they're like.
Oh, and I think Paranoia Survivor's DDR X rating was fine.

According to Remywiki, it got bumped to a 10 in a later patch of Supernova. It should've stayed a 9, though.

I will never understand why people think Paranoia Survivor is a 14.
There really isn't a 9 that does anything like the fast part on old scale, though.

That's what makes the chart, in my opinion, the hardest 9 in the game.

It reminds me of the Nephilim Delta drama and the only reason it got bumped down is the massive gap to rest: X3 was weird with its breaks.
If Hokkaido Stride is a 15, Samurai Shogun is a 15 too.
If Skywalking is a 15, VEGA should be a 15 too.

Paranoia Hades Expert was rated a 9, that's harder than HDV Expert. It's literally a 16. But, yeah, HDV Expert is definitely a classic 10. That scale threw around 10s to some dumb shit like bag and Sakura, I get why an actual 14 got the 10 rating. Wasn't it a classic discussion back in the day that some people thought HVAM should be a 10, as well?
(on that note remember when Hades DIFFICULT was rated a fucking 8 and is now a 15? This is why we didn't count misratings on the classic scale in that Dr.D video, it would've just all been SuperNOVA 2 jank)

I remember reading at one point that SN2 was rated before the charts were written and after the charts were written they were never adjusted, or something like that. I’m not sure how true it was but it would explain a hell of a lot.
And I definitely remember hearing a lot about HVAM (as well as So Deep, Drop Out, and Cartoon Heroes) should be 10s back in the Extreme days. I agree with So Deep and Cartoon Heroes and think they would be 14s if revived today but I disagree with the other two.

At least for Uranus, there is the "beta" stepchart posted here. Said

Wasn't that a common practice at the time even before and after SN2? I remember hearing the same line of words, not just for SN2, but in DDR as a whole. Maybe it's still common practice even now...

It would not shock me in the slightest. A lot of charts even today feel like the rating is decided before the chart is actually made, and it can create weird shit like complex rhythms not being charted in the song, which is fine if you don't want to go all out, but then complex rhythms that AREN'T in the song are also used, and it's like... yeah, this was clearly not made with anything other than "this chart HAS to be a 14" or whatever.
