I tried this, and I think it's good. Sure there are some that can't be replicated due to lack of resources or simply because AMX can't do it. But it's fine on it's own.

does that have to do with the sound getting cut-off when entering the screen?
Or is it because the screen filter is in-configurable?

There is no metric code for sample music playing in player options in SM AMX.

i mean, inly in SM AMX where the compiler remove the playing sample music in Player Options screen.

Getting technical, Stepmania AMX is based on 3.9. SM5 is on a different league of its own.
But there are good themes on SM5, right?

hmm, mine worked okay (even got it to read my SM5 song folders). Maybe re-download the AMX portable as posted by 7121DSP and replace the stepmania.exe file with another one he uploaded?

As far as I know, there isn't. There isn't anything in stepmania's forum WIP forum either.
