Correct me if I'm wrong but I do remember Konami saying that 2nd mix mode was supposed to have full versions of licenses in game. Was this actually said by them?

I never heard this.

I'd say I'm willing to wait for stuff to happen if it means that us other regions, esp. North America no longer have to suffer from the wretched and tantalizing grasp of awful Betson cabs. Even if it seems like that no one's gonna see anything past SN2, it'd be cool to hear that X3 will be distributed by a new manufacturer, much better than Betson, and that the few arcade owners that remain here will be able to snag a cabinet...

Total pipe dream, isn't it?

Yeah, it totally is.

The thing is, I think that we sometimes forget that Konami's in this for profit, not to make us players happy. The bills don't get paid with OH MY GOD POSSESSION IS THE GREATEST BOSS CHART OF ALL TIME THANK YOU KONAMI YOU ARE AWESOME, but with money, and the more that they can cut costs, the better for them. DDR isn't seen as a very "new" thing over in the US. And, for the most part, even if we do get X3 over here, most arcade owners think that if you've seen one machine, you've seen them all, so why buy cabs in the first place?

Trust me, I want an X3 AC US release as much as the next guy, but it just doesn't seem likely because corporations are the devil.

It wouldn't make sense for them to simply ask its loyal players in Japan to wait until they could possibly get a release in the US for unlocks, nor is it going to make us US fans much happier.

I suspect that they are planning some big things for the next game in the series and are stretching out unlocks to allow for more development time. However, two months with no activity is getting pretty ridiculous.

Watch there actually be some incredibly obscure unlock sequence available that no one has actually tried. I thought it was pretty impressive that people found the KISS KISS KISS remix on X2 that fast, honestly. Can't imagine why anyone would actually play that song.

Maybe X3 wasn't suppose to come out until this month? They were "done" so they went ahead and released it in November but won't start the unlocking until February?

DDR 2ndMIX originally released on January 29th. How much do you wager something happens in ten days?

We've been coming up with supposed dates that have some meaning to DDR for two months now. I really doubt it.

Yeah, I hardly doubt they'd have released a game early then decide to hold off the unlocks until they were originally supposed to start, just seems silly.

The bottom line is that we don't know what is keeping the unlocks, but I sure hope they start soon. X3 is getting pretty stale without them.

EDIT: Also, the 29th falls on a Sunday, I don't think they'd have unlocks on that day. Traditionally DDR 'unlock days' have been Wednesday, although they may have changed to Thursday for the X3 era, as that is the day when the X3 site is updated.

"Give me a steady beat."
It does? They may have planned an unlock schedule that involves other Bemani games, released X3 early, and decided it's better to wait it out than to rewrite said schedule. It's just a thought, but it makes sense.

bemanistyle just recently added a Sound Voltex video that has a shot of the menu screen that shows something called Paseli Mission, and that it can't yet be selected. Paseli permeates just about every Konami arcade game in Japan now, could be relevant.

"Rainbows in the Sky"
I'm still looking for an X2 (technically anything that isn't an SN or older, due to my Gameworks closing) in Michigan Tongue
Regarding the whole "no more Bemani console counterpart" thing, wasn't Japan due for a Music Fit 2? I remember something that either Pie or another member listing the songlist which was a decent hybrid of DDR 2010/DDR II, plus those music boxes that had Hey Soul Sister, Celebration, and Bad Romance from the UFO cranes. Personally though I'd rather have X3s readily available in the US than the two Wii titles...
I just came to say hello.

I think Konami's stance now is: No console releases in Japan, no arcade releases anywhere outside of Asia.

New eAmuse top 30 songs:

Can you explain Flowers? It's been in the top 30 since E-Amuse launched, but since it first showed up in a Dancing Stage game, we all assumed it was aimed squarely at a western audience, to match upto their idea of what Japanese music is. The impression I got was that they wanted to say "Heyyy, this is called Dancing Stage but it's really Japanese. Look at all the craaaazy and Japanese this song sounds! Sugoi desu!"

...Which is pretty much exactly what they did with A Geisha's Dream? And that pretty much flopped, despite being a literal "dream collaboration" people had never expected to actually come to fruition?

I always figured it was the equivelant of putting something like 'In Scottish Highlands' (or any of the other fairly-offensive 'national' songs from Pop'n Music) into Dancing Stage, and having everyone in Scotland legitimately fall in love with it.

Well, you have to understand them. The PS2 is almost dead so it wouldn't be wise for them to release a new game in there. I'm sure they want to make new CS games, but they would have to remake the entire game system (for DDR, IIDX, pop'n...) from scratch in the latest consoles, and for some reason they seem really "shy" of the idea.

I liked A Geisha's Dream a lot but it just wasn't as mindblowing as you would expect. I still liked Golden Sky better xD. Flowers is just amazing and no further discussion is needed regarding this subject.

Lots of personal favorites in that Top 30, go Meme Shikute!Puppy Face I love how people complain about DDR not being hard enough or even getting too hard, but Max300 is STILL very popular, sort of the official DDR "graduation" song.

It's be interesting to see what the Top 30 charts are, rather than the songs. I bet most boss songs make that list mostly because of plays on their Basic or Difficult charts.

I'm surprised Theory of Eternity is so low on the list.

I thought Flowers was first released on Supernova, which was a worldwide release, not just Europe.
Either way, Flowers is the one of the few Terra songs I actually like, and it has a good chart.
I also like a Geisha's Dream, but not nearly as much as Flowers.

It is. It's just that it's listed as Dancing Stage because we got it first. AND WE'VE BEEN PAYING FOR IT EVER SINCE.

There is no way to find that out, unfortunately. However, since there is a sizable population of DDR players that only play Basic/Difficult, especially on boss songs, it wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. Actually, it really wouldn't surprise me if any of those songs were played mostly on Basic or Difficult.

Tyma> some people play the songs for the charts rather than just the music, too. Flowers Expert Double is one of the most loved charts in recent mixes. (Lots 'o' Japanese players love skips, crossovers...not so much *love* BPM changes, though sudden, fixed BPM changes are all fine (not gradual)). Don't get me wrong, they like the song itself, too.
