I mean come on the joy cons literally did not break off the switch unless you really actually give them a ton of force it's not like I'm breaking it over my knee, come on lol! I've never had them break and mine aren't flimsy on the switch. I think you're being a little harsh. And I still stand by what i said about waiting for the direct to see how it all works, we're basing these feelings on the reveal trailer, we have no idea the workings of how things are gonna work and feel. So I'm not gonna outright trash the thing for being weak without actually knowing whats going on with it. Sorry about you, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Suit yourself.
They wear out over time. It doesn’t take a lot of force to just pop off a 1 year old joycon for someone who frequently goes back and forth between docked and handheld and doesn’t own any kind of pro controller. Replacement latches are sold for a reason.
You very literally cannot get a feel for any of this from a trailer. You can’t tell how it’s going to fit in your hands or what the build quality is just from looking at it.
Visually it’s all incredibly slick, and seeing side by sides with the current and future console (based on the beginning of the reveal going from current to the next one) the new size does look great. It looks like an improvement for how it will feel in the hands, it looks great for how the buttons will feel. But I’ll say I thought I would hate the Steam Deck until I got my hands on one then I couldn’t hold my Switch anymore. I had to buy a Nexigo Gripcon. There are other options now like the Nitro Deck. The upcoming Direct isn’t going to tell us much about build quality or how it will fit in our hands.
But Nintendo was involved in a class action lawsuit over the joycons. You can’t hand waive that away or act like other people are the problem. The build quality was factually bad. Sony didn’t just get the benefit of the doubt that PS2 revisions fixed DREs, Microsoft didn’t just get the benefit of the doubt that 360 revisions fixed RROD. They had to prove that. Nintendo refused to fix joycon build quality issues in any revision, many of the issues are present in the Switch Lite even. You have to understand why people want to hold this thing before they buy it at the very least. We can’t know about the latches or stick drift right away but we can at least make sure it feels sturdy before we buy it and a lot of people are going to want to.

All very valid points, and Nintendo is holding events soon so people can get hands on with it also so they can feel it before they buy it which was a good strategy on their part. And of course the direct on April 2nd so people can see more in depth about it. Despite some of the setbacks the Switch had, I just hope things are addressed better going forward with the 2. That's all I can hope for.
