I don't know who exactly to contact, but other people seem to know. The Betson website gives you contacts based on location, so it's hard to know who exactly would know what was going on. And from what I've seen, the people have been pretty good at replying to people through e-mail.

All of the responses that were posted have come from Bob Seibert, as far as I know. If you click any General Inquiries link on the Contacts page of Betson's site, an e-mail will be sent to him, as well as two other people. I'd suggest sending it to Marketing.

Alright, I sent an e-mail to all 4 e-mails for Marketing, so hopefully I'll get a response soon. I explained to them how locked content on the Japanese version is unlocked, just in case they didn't know.

I would be thoroughly amazed if they gave you a straight answer, but you just might get one since you sent it to 4 people.

By the way: I talked to the manager again today, told him about the first machine in Albequrque (however it's spelled), and he said he'd relay it to the arcade owner, who's apparently already planned to get an SN2 upgrade disk. Sounds promising! Smile I hope SN2 shows up in the next 2 weeks.

I wonder what that really means for us.
I'm thinking: scheduled internet ranking!

2. -There isn't a name entry for each single song like in DDRSN.EvilEvilEvilEvilEvil So far, there are no unlocks.

1. It's a local mode ranking for the machine.
How to play → Demo play → Local mode ranking.

2. Those thing will only appear if you are using an e-AMUSEMENT PASS (Network must be online of course)

Konami should of gotten rid of,"Surrender Your Love" that song is good any everything, dont get me wrong but the steps are boring.

It's not going to be on there. I believe Konami only got licensing rights for one AC mix, which was SuperNOVA.
So in my brief return, I am going to slowly but surely work on a new simfile mix called TEMPEST. Still workin' on it. Preview -->

Doesn't Really Matter is on there. None of the licenses from SuperNOVA were removed, save for Beautiful Life.

Someone needs to play more double. Surrender Double is amazing.

Lots of 16ths, I think it's more fun on doubles than singles. Still easy, though.

Random SuperNOVA2 report. TGA (Winchendon, MA, USA) got it on Friday. As did every other arcade in the state, I heard, but TGA is where I happened to play it. Apparently Betson did manage to make enough units for a simultaneous release everywhere. Like every other machine it is set to LOCAL MODE.

I've heard rumors that there is a MAX2-like system for unlocking things with time and skill, but I can't see any hint of it by playing the game. I remember MAX2 displayed a very prominent counter and told you that an event was going on between credits and during the game over sequence. SN2 doesn't do that. I'm pretty sure that the game wouldn't keep an unlock event/counter secret for two reasons.

One, the Zukin Wars were very obvious in the JP version and I'd guess that our offline unlock system would use the Zukin Wars theme too. The second reason is because of what I saw PNM 14 do. TGA got PNM 14 when it was still new. And initially, that game didn't do anything. No amount of 100ks would unlock anything. And then one day after about two weeks some sort of Fever event started happening. The game just turned it on by itself. (Obviously no e-amuse for PNM at TGA.) I don't understand one word of Japanese but I think the game was asking us for 500 fever clears between the hours of 8pm to 3am. A MAX2-style counter appeared, we reduced it to zero, and we got Battle Dance. If SN2 does have an offline event system then I'd expect it to work like PNM 14. Because there were all sorts of yellow and orange AAAs happening, and this one guy was whoring out TMP on heavy, but nothing unlocked. So let's see what happens in a few weeks.

I haven't seen anyone say this yet, but the machine does seem to be e-amuse ready. All of the Japanese games at TGA have operator settings for the name of the store, the default prefecture or whatever, and one or two other miscellaneous things. I saw the operators menu on SN2 and unless I'm mistaken, all of those things are present in SN2 as well. (Prefecture -> state, whatever. No technical difference.) It looks as simple as plugging in the card reader and enabling the option. So for what it's worth, Konami totally gave us e-amuse in the game. We won't need an upgrade disk or anything later, I don't think. Now it's just a matter of someone offering the service. (*hint hint* Private Ragnarok Online servers. TGA has 'spare' card readers from PNM, GF, and DM. Just saying.)

Also, I love the Marvelous timing, and the perfect timing, and Why Not! Big Grin

Does Betson absolutely HAVE to be the company that provides e-amuse? Can't some other arcade company, who sees the advantage of people paying for e-amuse subscriptions, build a network for SN2?

Also, I doubt that anything MAX2-like is present just because of the lack of an e-amuse network in the US, it's because the e-amuse is fully functional that it wouldn't make sense for Konami to implement such a feature. AFAIK, only Konami can make modifications to their software; it's just Betson that builds the hardware and installs the software.

Interesting report, though, Catastrophe. Let us know if you learn anything else.

I think they are just going to do the unlock disk thing. But 33 songs is so short.

Interesting Catastrophe, where did you hear rumors of a MAX2 unlock system? I still find it hard to believe that Konami would NOT put in an offline unlock system. Even if e-Amuse were avaiable, a majority of arcades would not want to pay for it, and I believe Konami addressed that.

I think worst-case-scenario, an update disk will be sent out in a month or so to unlock everything. But who knows? Maybe something like what happened with PNM14 will happen with SN2. It would certainly explain why we got SN2 over 6 months late, when it barely requires any translation at all.

MAX2-style unlock system is not implemented: Source
However, that does not completely rule out the possibility of an unlock system.

That doesn't prove anything, that just tells us what we already knew. As Catastrophe said, PNM14 didn't have the MAX2 style unlock thing for a few weeks, even with no e-amuse around.
