Yeah doubles has been around since like... forever. "Why did they bother taking it out" is what I've been wondering. I guess 'cause of the whole "it sucks to attach two soft mats together" thing. Tried it with duct tape years ago... not smart. xP But doubles gives people more arrows and crazier-yet-still-cool step patterns to work with, I think.

D8; d-damn. That looks so complicated! That will be very hard to get the hang of. D8; I'm not even confident enough to face away from the screen yet, but that guy spun like a boss! OTL

Hey Fairy, you should give it a go when the game comes out. In the arcades I'm OK at it, though I'd be a lot better if it didn't cost me a $1.50 a credit. Unfortunately I don't really have the space for it, though if I did you better believe I'd be playing it. HARD. Anyways, doubles play actually works very well once you get accustomed to the new step patterns it throws at you. Typically doubles offers a completely different take on a song's chart and in some cases it would turn out better than the singles chart. Some were easier, some were much harder.
With this in mind, it almost makes me want them to revive the HP1 and 2 songs that made it in DDRX so we can finally get the doubles charts home. Both Loving You and Will got much better doubles charts than what their singles counterparts were. They made more sense.

After seeing the video above, and hearing you two say that, I go ahead and take back what I said. 8D; I kinda DO wanna try out those doubles. I'd probably suck at it, but if I can take another step closer to being a "truer" DDR fan, I can try doubles. OTL
Huh, question. Is Choreograph mode returning? D8 The trailer didn't seem to indicate so, but...that was the funnest and best part of DDR 2010. Wii Balance Board mode should come back too. They can't turn the next DDR Wii into a 100% PS2 game, can they? 8D; I hope there's SOME kind of motion play in DDR. It was a silly gimmick, I know, but it is a lot of fun too. D8

The songs would be OK to me. I have just one expectation. I wanted the songs to have a music video and WITHOUT the screen filter. Let's just hope that there is an option to turn it off.

Well, they could always make the RDA songs add-on content, therefore players that want the extra challenge can have the game with them enabled, and the more casual audience can experience the game without them. What could be an interesting twist, especially considering the 2010 direction, would be for our versions to be a step ahead on the jun/EVOLVED series, but be catching up with the other boss-level songs. Not that X2 doesn't have plenty, mind you.

@Fairy Red: Like I always say, they call it "Doubles" because it's twice as fun as Singles
The steps generally focus more on streaming, and there are a lot more movement options.
Also silent's a bit of a showoff
Here's something a lot easier (Love Shine Standard). See if you can spot the two hopscotch sections towards the end!

Same here.
So far so good with the license list. I'm pretty sure the Spice Girls song will be Spice Up Your Life. Not a fan of the Jason Derulo pick, but oh well. I'm really happy to see Doubles is finally in, and I'm somewhat confident the Wii-exclusive characters are still in. I'm liking the look of the new characters except for Ruby. Looking forward to trying full songs this time around. Never experienced that before.

I can agree with wii balance board, but if they're going to come up with hand/arm movements for DDR II, then it should be a little more fun, hard, and exciting then choreograph mode. Even Move & Step was better because arrows were incorporated in with it.

I can understand wanting to turn off the screen filter. But music videos?! D8 They're very distracting, and some are downright weird (I'm looking at Pork and Beans, Bonafied Lovin', DAFT PUNK...). OTL

Again, they should borrow from the arcade and allow varying levels of screen filter. I'm not sure why they don't implement some of the most simple features from AC that make a huge difference.

http://www.g4tv.com/videos/53605/Dance-Dance-Revolution-II-Floor-Report-E3-2011/
G4TV did a floor report on DanceDanceRevolution II. There's nothing really amazing here, just a short interview with a Konami rep punctuated by various clips of DDR II (along with DDR 2010 and HP3, sigh). The rep did say that the game would have 30 license tracks and 30 KOs, so I guess we're going to get at least 60 tracks, not that that should be a huge surprise.
What I am surprised about is the fact that DDR II got so much coverage at E3. DDR 2010 got no coverage last year at E3 except for bemanistyle and HP3/X2 was largely the same. However, DDR II got coverage from IGN, Gamespot, and G4TV. I wonder why.

Probably got coverage because it was one of the few third party Wii titles on the floor.

I noticed that they mentioned something about the 360 Vision Camera and uploading gameplay videos to the XBL Arcade...Curious as to what all that is about

I was curious about that too, but I wasn't sure if he was just alluding to something that was available on the DDR 2010 360 game. If not, then maybe they are working on a PS3/360 version of the game.

Maybe the vision camera is a feature that's not advertised well? I know that with some games that use the vision camera only show the features when the camera is plugged in. If I had the game, I'd try it out and see.

If you skip to 00:25, you can see some song-wheel scrolling, though you can't really make it out, and it's probably nothing we don't know. The theme looks kind of the same as DDR 2010, but its blue instead of pink. Also, the Vision thing-a-ma-jig sounds like kinect, since it does the same thing, but we'll probably find out soon enough.Post #238 · Posted at 2011-06-16 10:11:23pm 14 years ago

Probably because there's no Rock Band 4, Guitar Hero 7, DJ Hero 3.

I hope they're not using the full versions as an excuse to have lazy-ass cuts, but they probably will. Sigh.
