"Rainbows in the Sky"
Why can't I quote in the mobile site? Tongue
Anyways, @T-14: The game is one word, not three separate (DanceDanceRevolution II not Dance Dance Revolution II), I preordered earlier this week at gamestop no pad without a hassle, should be on the gamestop website as well unless you live in Canada, in which case it only lists the bundle currently.
I just came to say hello.

"Well."

They most likely will, but I highly doubt there will be anything significant found there. The most I could see being possibly found there is a picture that confirms the original Hottest Party characters, but that's pretty much it.

... starting with what characters are available, because it was probably otherwise the lowest on most priorities lists.

Still high on my priority list. oAo; I'm psyched for the songs and will get this game regardless, but I sure hope they can include both sets of characters. I'll be very disappointed if they don't, though. Because it's just lazy then. :/

Lazy?

They created X2 characters for the game.

"DDR-ing regularly again!~"
How is that lazy? They created X2 characters because there was more demand. It would have probably been lazy (and less work) if they went with the HP characters again because they already have Wii models of them. There is probably still a chance seeing as some of the screenshots have the Mii bodies still and because of the fact that Rena was on the X2 AC.

It's not lazy... it's just... did anyone expect the Wii to become the canon console? o_o It's weird.

EDIT: Or maybe the HP characters went no vacation just because this isn't a "Hottest Party" title, and is kind of its own thing. It's still weird, but ah well at this point.
And yeah, kinda with what Max said... did anyone expect it before RDA and some of the reveals were, well, revealed.

Well, they certainly must have seen the disaster that erupted on the PS3.

Ehm... what about HP2 made it canon? X for PS2 came out uh... the year after, I guess, and while X2 wasn't arcade-accurate, it followed the name series and still had the same characters, and some songs from the AC game that hadn't even been released yet.

Frankly, before the announcement of RDA and Reveal #'s 2 through 4 nobody was really expecting the Wii to turn into the flagship title that it is looking to be now, most of everyone thought this was just going to be another run-of-the-mill Wii DDR game that would bring in some new songs from the arcade version of X3, "MAYBE" a few from X2 AC, and nothing too spectacular with the characters or how you unlocked things and more "Wii" modes.

This game pretty much lay to rest what we would have thought of a "near-perfect but technically impossible" Wii DDR game would turn out to be, and they executed it to the point where this has been one of the most hyped up DDR console releases in YEARS Big Grin

Makes you wonder what they'll pull off with the next release in DDR III.

Goods keep your combo on this one though (for no bloody reason). Maybe you'll like it now.

Adding Marvelous to normal play
Removal of Boo/Almost
Goods keep your combo

Why are these acceptable in IIDX but when they implement IIDX scoring in DDR its for no reason? Honest question, as I think the new DDR scoring is fantastic.

Just for reference, the "GOOD" on IIDX timing windows is about equivalent to a DDR "GREAT".

FLASHING GREAT (adds to combo) ≈ MARVELOUS
GREAT (adds to combo) ≈ PERFECT
GOOD (adds to combo) ≈ GREAT
BAD (combo breaker) ≈ GOOD
POOR (combo breaker) = MISS

Ya know, I should have known that. I dont know what I've been thinking. I think this means its time to play some IIDX for the first time in over a year.

"BEEJAY REVEL A"
The more I hear what they are planning for this game, the more hope that is restored in Konami for me. A fair release window is something that I haven't seen for quite some time for DDR.

I did find it weird that they decided to call it Hottest Party 5. I mean, Konami dropped the Dancing Stage title to be more unified under one name for their franchise and here they are calling the same game something different in two regions. Oh well, it doesn't matter. A name is just a name

Does anyone else think we should have a super boss system or something for like, the final bosses, since there are so many already and there will probably be an EVOLVED song and maybe a couple of others.

The last game was called Hottest Party 4. In America, it was marketted as "DanceDanceRevolution" for some reason, but the files on the disc still referred to it as HP4.

I'm imagine this is going to be the same case.

After Hottest Party 2, Konami switched from the PS2 to the Wii, as the primary platform for CS games. HP3 was developed as that year's CS release, and it was ported to the PS2 as DDR X2 USA (Albeit with a slightly different songlist, but most of the same assets). The next year's CS release was HP4, which was ported to the PS3 and XBox 360 in a new engine.

The move came into effect after HP2 was released, but we heard about it around that time (Between the US and Japanese release, I think).
