Graphics Artwork Thread!

Sometime yesterday, I thought of a "really cool" name for a new simpack i've been working on that I may or may not release. And I didn't make the graphic until a day later. I also didn't want to post during the midst of all the DDR A hype yesterday.

Enter, "XeneSyS XSySt" (pronounced "exist").

Well, most of it was custom-made.
The Springs and Dampeners were made in a 3D program, therefore custom rendered.
The text is actually done in Photoshop using simple duplication.
The glowing cube was found on google that I decided to put in to snazz it up a bit.

(Yeah, it's the official cover for a Hard Kryptic Records NYC release), I am friends with the owner, so he sometimes ask me for artworks haha.

I have a slim-chance request.
Anyone have a set of motion-stop sprites of RINON? It would be best if they were shrunk to about 80x80 px.
It's for a game I'm playtesting for, called Project TUSSLE. In essence, it's open source indie Smash Bros. I'm trying to make animations for RINON as a playable character.

Here are the backgrounds to two of the songs I made for the ZIv 90's Mix category. Both are at 640x480. Tell me what you guys think of them and what I can improve on.

Update: I decided to remake two of the previous ones as well as an alternate version of the other one and show one of the backgrounds of a future song.

You definitely have some skill in Graphics, but there are several areas for improvement. What program do you use? I'd recommend using a more advanced program like GIMP if you aren't already. GIMP is a great program, although overwhelming at first. With more advanced programs/tools you can still use gradients/textures for text without aliasing the text (getting rid of the smooth edges). Definitely keep using gradients though for text, it looks better than a solid color. Also, try experimenting with more than one text outline, shadows, glows, and transparent text. Also, feel free to move the letters around a bit. You can rotate or skew the text for different effects, and you can even try making 3D text or text along a path.

Overall, you definitely have potential for making great graphics, but consider using a more advanced program, like GIMP (which is free ) to preserve the smooth edges of the text.

Thanks man! I did use GIMP for the second Your Woman background as well as the Cruel Summer and both DCFMA backgrounds. The first three were made in paint.net. I'm redoing those. I'm working on Mysterious Times as we speak. I am using a gradient for it. Thanks for the compliments man!
