LoveGame - a fun file. I don't see anything wrong here.
Spooky - was good but it felt like it dragged on a lot.
Electric Super Highway - I didn't really like your steps.
Kaze wa Fuiteiru - null
Hanz up! - those gimmicks are stupid.
Wuv U - this was all around bad. offsync video, forced difficulty i think. some stops are unneccesary
Everything's Gonna Be All Right - dat LQ MP3, dat samplestart, dat seizure inducing BGA. i liked the steps but they had too many jumps for my taste.
Bulletproof - I didn't like the steps at all, sorry.
La Noche Es Para Mi - me gusta. best graphics from you.
Sweet Rain - sreet wane ohoho you're so funny. dat LQ MP3. also I felt the slowdown was really awkward.
Disco the ground - nice file, maybe use less jumps.
Now that I found You - this whole fucking thing was awkward. dat music cut. also, nice difficulty gap on double.
multiPONPONPON - very fun. imo, some freezes went on for too long but other than that whee.
naughty girl@Queen's Palace - was good but i think you should switch up the direction the player is facing.
PONPONPON - best sync this week imo. the only thing i hated about this was the jumps at the end.
Sunset ~Fading Day~ - holy shit.

The above is worded weirdly. It should have read, "Deadlines on Sunday, next week submission starts Tuesday"

LOVEGAME - 7/10
I can't find much that's necessarily wrong with the file, but still, I don't find that it's up to your normal standards of quality. That's not to say it isn't good; it's one of the best charts this week. The first time you stepped the chorus (starting at measure 26) was fantastic, easy enough to be an 8 but hard enough so that it could follow the rhythms without having to pussy out. And that's what slow songs are for--16ths. My only qualm with this file started at measure 33, when you introduced jumps in between sixteenth streams. They felt disorienting. But again, this was a great file and I had fun playing it.

SPOOKY - 6/10
I don't like good-cool, and this chart was no exception. However, that has no bearing on the quality of the chart--I enjoyed it! It was almost 2 minutes, but it felt like a lot less--which is a good thing, especially when the song was less than my favorite. Measures 20-27 were pretty great, and generally, the steps fit well--though there were a few awkward difficulty spikes, especially with things like the syncopated sixteenths such as those in measure 29, and some WEIRD doublesteps that didn't really fit. Plus, it didn't feel TOO too much like an 8, though it was a pretty fun chart nonetheless.

ELECTRIC SUPER HIGHWAY - 7.5/10
You know how they said that super highway was the most popular BEMANI song and how I never really believed that? I finally got it--this song is FANTASTIC. Unfortunately, there were a good number of rhythms that I didn't necessarily agree with. Yeah, I loved the slow quarter jumps during the 'refrain', but IMO, the part from measures 4 to 11 should've really had a kick up in difficulty, the part from 31 to 48 didn't seem like it fit, and there were a good amount of taps that didn't really work. Besides, the player is mostly faced only one way during the song--there weren't really any crossovers, only doublesteps. That's not really a bad thing, though--the doublesteps here worked, and it takes a great kind of chart to pull it off. This is a song that would really benefit from having a Challenge chart, but good job on the Heavy nonetheless.

KAZE WA FUITEIRU - 5/10
Standard Chewi chart, really. Simple Japanese license. There's nothing of note with respect to this song/chart. I mean, it works, sure, but it didn't really blow me out of the water like Electric Super Highway did. It did make me wonder what a Chewi Boss Song would be like, though... it might have benefited you to change things up a little. Maybe augment the difficulty next time? Of course, there's nothing really WRONG with it, it's just that it lacks creativity. This is a chart that, the more I think about it, the worse it gets.

HANZ UP! - 5.5/10
Quick Silver had a Challenge chart and didn't need one; like Electric Super Highway this week, this one would benefit immensely from having one. I felt that the steps were too simple for the song and was expecting something a bit more ITG-esque. Combining purely aesthetic gimmicks (the steps were still on the same beat as they would be if they scrolled at a constant BPM) with fairly simple steps seems like an ITG Hard chart. You could've made an Expert chart to this song that would've been pretty good, but meh, that's in the past. Anyway, the chart. I really liked what you did with some parts (33-35 really stood out to me), but you're right, parts of it did channel Spin the Disc... which isn't necessarily a good thing. The main problem I have with Spin the Disc is that it's very bare-bones. There's a lot that could be done with it, but it didn't go with any of it. That's the thing with this--just compare measures 17-20 with measure 16; so much is done with 16, but then we have a juxtaposed simple section. It creates odd difficulty spikes which, while not bad, could've been fixed in an Expert chart. Nice graphics, though.

WUV U - 6/10
-1 point for candy pop kors k. good GOD what is it with smoooooch clones that people can't stay away from? No, I'm kidding; I won't penalize you for picking kors k's first smooooch clone(though the song and I didn't see eye to eye; eh, at least it's better than smoooooch). I had to rename the video, but once I did it it worked well. Surprisingly, I liked this chart. It felt offsync later on, but that's to be expected what with the stop/slow gimmicks earlier on. The Heavy steps emulated a harder X2-smoooooch. Though some of the gimmicks were tough to figure out the first play through (such as measure 24), they made me want to play it again. My main qualm is with the slowdown at measure 28--it had way too much Voltage for its own good. The rhythms were nice, but why not tone it down a bit? Other than a couple of problems with step placement and oh god the sixteenth syncopations during the 'refrain' weren't quite "there", it was a solid chart, though. It would be a 7 if it was on sync the whole way through, though.

EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE ALRIGHT - 7.5/10
I didn't want to take a whole point off on account of bad sync because it was on sync in places. But yeah, tah dah, you just finished all of the criticism I had for this chart. Fantastic; aside from the sync and the LQ mp3 (yeah I'm one to talk...), it's probably the best file this week--well, this, or multiPONPONPON. Sixteenths, good. A few short streams, good. BGA, good. But why is it "Future techno" if it looks like it was done in the 90s?

BULLETPROOF - 5.75/10
HEAVY: The first half was way stronger than the second half--9-26, I mean. I found that the tap-tap-jump rhythm really added something to the chart, and the fact that you were able to mix it up a little without making it weird was pretty good. The second half was considerably weaker, with freezes put on really strange off-beats--no, scratch that; the off-beat notes were generally strange, and I don't think that they really worked in this case. Plus, I think you meant to put some spins in towards the end, but I can't be sure because they didn't flow from one spin to the next. 6/10
CHALLENGE: Strangely, I found that this had exactly the opposite problem that the Heavy chart had. I was convinced that Challenge was a keyboard chart during the first half because the jumps just felt weird when done on pad, but they worked on keyboard. The end really made it "worth it", though, because the almost minimal sixteenth clusters and jumps, though repetitive, worked well--honestly, just add the latter half of this chart and the former of the Heavy and you'd have a chart that, while containing a difficulty spike, would work really well in a repetitive kind of a way. 5.5/10

LA NOCHE ES PARA MI - 7.5/10
i lose.

DISCO THE GROUND - 6/10
This was a pretty good chart, IMO. I liked how you made the steps go with the singer--it's par for the course, but it works well. However, you fell into two or three "traps" that I've seen on everyone who's stepped this song. The first, jumps. Holy SHIT there were a lot of them. Jumps work well with this song, but really, towards the beginning it was starting to get excessive. The second, the stop. Yeah, there are no instruments during that spot, but it was strange and felt almost contrived. I'm sure that you could've stepped that without needing that stop; it was really awkward. The third, DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN would work much better if, instead of jump jump jump jump jump jump jump, it was actually DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN. That's mainly an aesthetic thing for me, but I never said that the jumps didn't work. (They did.)

NOW THAT I FOUND YOU - 4/10
"Hi-NRG Mix"? Well, this is a song that should consider going on crack--or something. I thought that it was going to be faster and more exciting than it ended up being, so I was left unfulfilled. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with the patterns that you used, it's just that they were very "samey", especially towards the beginning, where I was POSITIVE that I was doing the same measure five or six times. Even if it was less than a minute and a half, I felt like it was a lot longer because it dragged on. I played through the Challenge steps, and they weren't much to write home about either. Also it was offsync, and I would've given it a 5 if it was on sync the whole way through.

MULTIPONPONPON - 8.5/10
I knew I was in for a trip as soon as I heard the sample music.

naughty girl @queen's palace - 6/10
Let me just say first and foremost that this is a good chart and I had fun playing it. There were a few weird places (measure 25, I'm looking at you) where you started to follow one rhythm but switched to another one partway through the phrase, which I found odd. I also think that you didn't spike the difficulty up enough. Not to sound like an ITG fanboy--when have I ever really stepped anything over a 9 with anything resembling quality?--but I thought this chart would be more streamy and jumpy than it was. Where this chart really shone for me, though, was the last half, especially starting at measure 49. There's something there that's different from the first half that's just better, but I can't really place it. Maybe it just fit my expectations better? I dunno, that answer makes me feel like a self-righteous prick...

PONPONPON - 6.5/10
Aah, you threw away a good chance here! The original is very bubbly and happy and would go well at a constant BPM (130? not sure with that one)--but with this one, there's a distinct place where it really should've sped up to 260 (measure 18). Other than that, there's really nothing that I can say against this chart. Yeah, the gallops were weird, but overall, the chart is pretty fantastic. The Heavy chart, that is; the Challenge is riddled with a few awkward doublesteps, especially with respect to the jump-freezes. Though that's pretty inconsequential; don't like a chart, don't play it, right? And I really did like the Heavy.

SUNSET ~FADING DAY~ - 6/10
It was good, but I don't think that the chart could make up its mind--if it wanted to be a fun and streamy chart (2-5; 30-38; 49-end) or a weird and offbeat one (6-18; 38-46). The slowdown worked pretty well (18-22), though it was a little strange for some reason... can't put my finger on why, though. Also I really, really, really didn't like the song. I don't know why JAKAZiD gets so much love, this and Pierce the Sky really aren't that good songs. But I digress.

There aren't (or at least, shouldn't be) any doublesteps in the chart. A few of the streams require your feet to be placed a certain way after a jump to fit, and since people interpret jumps differently within a chart, that can lead to doublesteps. There's one stream in particular in the chart that's like that, and there may be a couple more.

LoveGame - Why did you have to play the Gaga card Sad. I really liked this chart though - it's similar to what I would have done, actually, except I would have used sixteenths in the disco stick section (8.5/10)

Spooky - (10000000000000/10)

Electric Super Highway - My thing with your charts is that I feel like parts of them are really brilliant (the step-jump section) while parts are pretty meh (the quarter and eighth sections). This chart does its job as a 7, but I feel like it isn't consistently engaging, or at least as engaging as that step-jump section. (6.5/10)

Kazi Wa Fuiteru - Whoa. I genuinely loved this chart. I know I've given you some decidedly...harsh criticism before, but I have to say, your charts are among the most faithful to actual DDR charts that I've seen. And although this sometimes can be a bad thing, sometimes, it works out REALLY well. Like, if this was the next unlock in X3, I would not be surprised. Great work Big Grin. (9.5/10)

Hanz Up! - Those BPM/stop gimmicks were sex. Outside of that, I have no complaints about the chart. There were a few sections that felt comparatively dull, but that's because they were juxtaposed with some really brilliant rhythms and patterns. Charts like this make me miss In the Groove Sad (8.5/10)

Wuv U - Bleh. There were some REALLY questionable rhythms here that didn't seem to go with the song at all. And the BPM gimmicks were awful. Not only were they offsync, they were also awkward as all hell and entirely unnecessary. It's a shame because your patterns aren't awful, but the rhythms and syncing turned this into a disjointed mess. (4/10)

Everything's Gonna Be Alright - Decent chart. I have a personal dislike for steps that follow the vocals (aka the chorus), but the verse patterns were pretty good. The song was definitely offsync, though, and some of the choas felt a little weird, although that may have been the sync. (7.5/10)

Bulletproof
Heavy - Although the chorus was kinda weak (you REALLY could have done a lot more with it), I though the rest of the chart was brilliant. Sometimes, simple patterns work the best, and I think you demonstrated that very well with the first half of the chart. (8/10)
Challenge - Like Grithok said, the second half here was definitely better than the first. I don't think the jumps are an awful idea, but I do think they are way overused. I play these on keyboard because I don't have a USB pad (yet), but I can imagine that this chart would be a bit painful on pad. (6/10)
Overall - (7/10)

La Noche Es Para Me - Like I said with Chewi's chart, if this exact chart appeared on X3 right now I wouldn't at all be surprised. I love it when charts feel authentic (and get me dancing while I play them lol) <3 (9.5/10)

Sreet Wane - Man, I wish you were up against anybody but Oni, because I really want to vote for this. Great crossovers, a well executed slowdown, fitting gallops...honestly, this chart has everything I like about 150 bpm rave songs Tongue. Great work. (9/10)

Disco the Ground - You know, I was playing through this song hoping for something to cricize, but I found nothing Sad. Sorry man, I guess I'm forced to give you a perfect score. (10/10)

Now that I Found You - Lolthatcut
Heavy - Good chart. You don't do anything special with it, and yet it didn't feel repetitive or boring (maybe because there's not much else going on in the song?). It wasn't entirely on sync and it wasn't anything special, but it played well and was fun, and that's all that matters, right? (8/10)
Challenge - Basically what I said about the Heavy chart applies here, although the patterns were a bit more interesting this time around. (8.5/10)
Overall - (8.25/10)

MultiPonPonPon - You can pretty much copy and paste what I wrote for every 9+ review here. There were a few weaker parts (mostly the beginning), but the rest of chart really makes up for it. Yous tructured everything so well, and everything seemed to fit, from the crossovers to the sixteenths. Nice work. (9/10)

Naughty Girl @ Queen's Palace - I hated the song, truthfully, but the chart does well considering how repetitive the song is. The crossovers were nice, the jumps worked, and unlike most of the songs this week, it was actually on sync! (whoa). But yeah, good job. (8.5/10)

PonPonPon
Heavy - I mean, there were parts of this that I liked - the buildub in the beginning, the TaroNuke inspired (or the other way around Tongue) chorus, and the crossovers. But then you get those gallops, and the vocal stepping, and THAT FREAKING JUMPSTREAM SECTION. Seriously, I don't know what you were thinking when you did that -_-. But yeah, the bad/weird unfortunately outweighs the good here. Sorry Sad (5/10)
Challenge - So, you took out almost everything I liked about the heavy chart, kept in the jumpstream and gallops, added a bunch of sixteenth streams and doublesteps, and added that weird freeze-thing at the end? No. (Also, this song should have been double the tempo, imo). (3/10)
Overall - (4/10)

Sunset ~Fading Day~ - I mean, some of the spins were weird, and some of the rhythms were off, but unlike the previous chart I think the good outweighs the bad here. A lot of the streams were genuinely fun, and you had the best executed slowdown I've seen in a while. Great work. (8.5/10)

I took a small break on my studies to check the files of this week, with a little comment for each one.

Charts on bold are my picks. I didn't take on account the song choice by the way.

LoveGame: Really great chart.
Spooky: Good chart with a couple of weird spots.

Electric Super Highway: Okay chart, it needed some extra difficulty at some parts though.
Kaze wa Fuiteiru: Good chart, it felt DDR-ish.

Hanz up!: The gimmicks added a lot to the chart, which was pretty good already.
Wuv U: Some gimmicks were unnecessary, and the difficulty felt forced at some parts.

Everything's Gonna Be Alright: Good chart.
Bulletproof: Heavy was well designed, Challenge went with too much jumps.

La Noche Es Para Mi: Another really great chart.
Sweet Rain: Nothing of this chart really stood to me.

Disco the ground: Besides the excess of jumps at some parts, it was quite good.
Now that I found you: Just okay, nothing stood to me on either Heavy or Challenge.

MultiPONPONPON: One of the best charts this week IMO.
naughty girl@queen's palace: Some rhythms were quite strange on the chart, otherwise it was good.

PONPONPON: Good charts, but that jumpstream near the end...
YUUYAKE ~Fading Day~: Best chart of this week.

LoveGame : Pie does it again.
Spooky: Nice, but not quite as polished...

Electric Super Highway: I liked it a lot.
Kaze wa Fuiteiru: Good chart, it felt DDR-ish.

Hanz up!: Felt rather ITGish, I like that.
Wuv U: FUCK. (Displaybpm as 86? Really? Dickhead)

Everything's Gonna Be Alright: (y)
Bulletproof: No.

La Noche Es Para Mi: One of the best files this week.
Sweet Rain: It was going really well, but then a couple of doublesteps, they were up to no good, started making trouble in the .sm etc.

Disco the ground: Slightly gooder stuff.
Now that I found you: Good stuff.

PONPONPON: I really liked the song, but the jumpstream was kind of enhhhhh
YUUYAKE ~Fading Day~: Good

I find it weird that none of the rounds are equal in any way...

That's because high seeds were paired vs low seeds. It was bound to be a landslide from the beginning.

I checked out of interest, and last years' tournament was won by the 11th place seed. The final was between 8th and 11th place.

I thought that the fact that were aren't restricted by a theme, and are allowed to enter files that were written weeks ago would cause landslides, but the most dominant people so far are all guys who made their files on the week, and in some cases didn't have time to polish them, or even finish working on the graphics o.O

I'm going to try the files out in a minute, but I'm still shit-scared of giving criticism on any of them, since I spent most of last night trying to bug Oni and DMAxel into teaching me how to make a more fun chart :{
