So I won't receive update 4.2, and wouldn't run the risk of getting it bricked?
In other words, the update's in the CD itself and not an online update?

One person's opinion on the game:
"Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 is the best version of DDR I’ve ever played. Not only is the track listing amazing, but there are several new modes including an all balance board version of DDR that it as odd as it is amusing. The only two negative things I can say about this game are that the graphics are pretty terrible and it’s really disappointing that Konami has only released this in a bundle with a DDR Pad instead of letting gamers have the choice to buy the bundle or just the game disc. Selling it only in a bundle forces gamers who already have one or more pads to spend more money than they need to and also clutter up their home with extra pads. Even though I’m really enjoying Hottest Party 3, I can’t recommend it at the $70 price tag if you’ve already got the pads from HP1 and HP2. "
What I don't understand is how he can bash the graphics?! Are you flippin' kidding me? Listen to this...
"Sadly, the graphics are still the worst part of this game. Most of the visuals in Hottest Party 3 look like they are from the old PSX versions of DDR (WHAT?!). Even worse, the game is usually mostly the same visuals at Hottest Party 1 with a few new characters and stages (not true; there are some huge improvements here!). The game also lets you add Miis as background dancers, but this is actually a misnomer, as you can’t import your own Miis that you have already made (YES YOU CAN? What are you talking about? He probably just didn't go UP on the Mii selection screen). Instead you have to make Miis from a very limited selection of pieces (although you can unlock more)."
Wow. Talk about being misinformed, not to mention not taking the time to review the game properly...

Yes, the 4.2 update is on the disc.
And yeah, sadly general reviewers don't pay attention to much detail.

I guess we can assume that these are all covers since they don't have artists attached to them. Climax Jump is definitely not by AAA.
From a quick glance, it looks like they're recycling cover versions they made for Jubeat?

This just in: Be With You (Still Miss You) requires gimmicks to AAA on Difficult.
Also, Now's the Time has a neat dance routine with some new movements that haven't been seen in HP series. I love seeing these new dance routines. Saw some other neat ones that suit songs well like in I'm Coming Out for example.
edit:
You guys should see one of the new gimmicks. It's actually pretty neat! I just recorded footage of it in action. I'll upload it at some point today.
edit:
Just did a vid of the Credit Roll, as requested. Once again, I'll post it here once I upload it.

Wow, did not expect this to end up here...good song with lots of potential for steps but I have a feeling it'll end up getting nixed like Purple Line.Post #207 · Posté à 2009-10-31 02:55:31am il y a 16.3 années

Here's the Credit Roll. Not the greatest quality but I hope it'll do!
edit:
Heatstroke has a great Balance Board chart!!
edit:
Workout Mode has actual graphs to track your weight changes. It's more deep than in HP1 and HP2.
edit:
Here's the Lesson for the new gimmick I mentioned earlier:
Here's You Are a Star Difficult - it uses the above gimmick.
edit:
More Balance Board Impressions:
You Got It (The Right Stuff) is pretty fun. Got my first FULL COMBO! (Yes, on Difficult.)
Now's the Time is a really fun chart.

Yeah, I can't tell if that's the ASAKI song or if its some licensed song. I can't seem to find a licensed song by that name, but, as UG pointed out to me, it could be a classical Japanese piece or something like that.
EDIT: Man, seems like most of the HP3 exclusive licenses got some good charts. Requesting Feel Good Inc. and Pork & Beans ;).

Feel Good Inc.'s chart kinda disappointed me a bit. I haven't tried Pork & Beans. I got footage of FGI recorded from earlier in the day so I can upload that soon and get P&B recorded for ya maybe this weekend.

The beginning and middle are too easy, but the middle of that chart is good. Overall, it's a decent chart and it's also a decent cut.

The long version of "A Brighter Day" during the credits is pretty good. I think I like it best out of the NAOKI staple HP songs (will, Into Your Heart).

I wonder what is the difference between Kids Mode and Normal Mode ?
Does kids mode highest difficulty = 10 that actually feel like 7 footer ala DDR X ? (Remember DDR Disney Groove)

Just tried P&B. It's not bad. Music cut is good, music video in tact, the only problem with the chart is the underwhelming/understepped beginning, really. You'll see what I mean when I do a vid of it.
BTW, I absolutely LOVE Heatstroke.
edit:
There is no "Kids Mode" in HP3 (our version at least). Closest thing is "Relaxed Mode" which only has Beginner and Basic difficulties and you just jump right into a song without worrying about stage/character selection.
edit:
Just got the max for DDR Points like darknight06.

Question:
When HP3's simfiles get posted, will they include the two HP1 and HP2 nonstop courses?
(I'm pretty sure they will since they are entirely new stepcharts, but just making sure.)
