Dance Dance Revolution X Arcade Online Update Released!

Thank you all so much for playing Dance Dance Revolution X.

On February 16th, an online update was put into the DDR X machines, and some bugs were fixed.

-The problem with machines freezing occasionally after playing has been fixed.

-The problem where arrows would "disappear" when using certain mods has been fixed.

-The timing problems occurring in some songs have been fixed.

-Problems involving edit data have been fixed.

I'm sorry these errors caused some problems.

There's a Puzzle, Puzzle, Puzzle inside the Truck!

We submitted the DDR X machine for the AOU Show today.
Since AOU is a show for many types of games, there will be a lot of arcade machines there.
All these machines are being put on a truck and being packed very closely together. While I was preparing the cushioning material for the machine, I thought
"Everything has to fit in here!"
It must take a pro to get all the machines in there.
I suppose it's what one might call a "puzzle game".

Maybe if you line them up the right way, they just disappear...

Er...anyways, I'll be setting up the machine at AOU tomorrow.

Preparing for the AOU Show

Being held at the Makuhari Messe Complex Center, the AOU show is starting on the 20th!

Everything has been set up correctly (I think), so we'll all be waiting for you!

We used the TOP UNITS for use in the AOU show, and I took the following picture while we were setting up for the show.

That actually had me tricked for one second.

I was relieved at the presence of the scrolling lights, so I almost didn't notice the single pad.

Good thing I did; that right there would be a dealbreaker.

That would be a pretty tight cabinet if they brought back solo. The widescreen would be great for the two extra diagonal arrows on the screen.

That would be cool if Konami put solo arrows in the corners of a full setup. They monitor is big enough for two persons to play solo on. Solo doubles would be insane!

It'd be one more thing you can't (normally) get with r23, anyway. I'd love to try out a "new" step type, though I worry that it wouldn't get adopted due to price (pads not readily available) and different maintenance required.

Opening Day, AOU 2009

The "business day" of AOU 2009 has now finished.
Many people were interested in the BEMANI corner, and I'm very thankful for that.
The BEMANI section of AOU is a more enriched than the other years, the event "Bemani Top Ranker Play-Off EX" was held on the 20th.
It was a good competition. The point scores were very close.
A Geisha's Dream Single/Expert was used as one of the qualifying songs, and the battle for the top score was pretty close on it.

Anyways, I hope you play all sorts of BEMANI games at AOU, not just DDR. And if you've never tried DDR, come play! I think I saw a few people who had never played before. Everyone, come play, everyone's welcome! And watch others play as well. Talk to the expert players to get some tips.

There was a "DDR After-School Club" that came and put some EDIT data on the machine. Make sure you also check out the EDITS and make your own.

Well, I've been rehearsing for the big day, the 21st. This is the day that the event is open to all the public....and there will also be the BEMANI RADIO event! Many BEMANI artists are participating. And the super-players from BEMANI TOP RANKER will also be playing on the machines. MICH-San has come to the event. You'll be able to see his "super play". Thank You for Coming to AOU2009!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Konami booth at AOU tonight.

Thanks to you, the Bemani booth was very popular. The staff is very grateful for it. But the rush of people had unexpected consequences, as the lines for the games were very long. We had to tighten how much each player could play because there were so many people, I'm very sorry.

Even so though, I think the people who came had a lot of fun. They were able to attend various events and meet very many people. We're very thankful that so many people were able to attend the events.

Please continue playing DanceDanceRevolution and other BEMANI games too!

By the way, I also took a bunch of pictures from the BEMANI booth, I hope they come out well. I've also written just a simple report on it. I think I'll tell you more at a later date though!



Dance Dance Revolution S Released

At last! On Feb. 25th, 2009, DDR S for the iPhone/iTouch was released! This new mobile DDR may be on a handheld unit, but it's not some casual game, it's features full voices (Translator Note: he is probably referring to this DDR using actual songs, rather than MIDIs like the cellphone games do). It has many polygon characters! There are many game modes to enjoy as well!

The "SHAKE MODE" which is included has you shake the game and uses the acceleration sensor. Please try it out!

A lot of time has passed since we first wrote about the game here.
Well, it's finally been completed since the first trial version released last year. Sorry for making you wait! But the staff wanted to make sure the game was filled with all sorts of content to enjoy. And don't worry, there is plenty of music and characters to enjoy, so please try all the songs and characters out.

I'd like to treat this new DDR series importantly, so if you have any thoughts while playing DDR S, do tell them!
