Switching the MySQL server should be relatively simple, however switching hosts COMPLETELY including the web server would include moving 20gb+ of files.

Ah right, yeah I killed off the stuck queries and you get that cos the database connection is lost cos I killed it.

It just sucks I have to kill connections just to get the site running again, in the average scenario, I shouldn't have to kill off any, but due to my host's incompetence of supplying a working database, I can't help it.

I disabled the New Replies function in the forum index to speed things up a little, but it shouldn't even lag the database that much, but noo, the database does anyway.

They deferred a ticket to a MySQL admin almost 3 DAYS ago and still nothing has happened.

I sent a ticket yesterday and sent another one a few hours ago about transferring me to another database in hopes of getting a better database performance.

They replied saying they'll let the MySQL admin about my request for moving database. When they'll get back to me I have no idea.

Love the themes and light/dark contrast. The way the simfile section is organized is the coolest!

Does the background glitch up for anyone else?

DreamHost constantly failing reminds me of when my Charter connection was always failing in my area over the summer. It turns out the problem was an issue with a cable on my street.

It's funny how Al always refers to DH as "my host," as if he's disgusted with them (and he probably is) and refuses to call them
by proper name.

Forum new replies markers will only be active now if you mark the forums as read as long as you've marked the forums read within two weeks ago.

If the last time you marked the forums as read is over two weeks, the feature will be disabled due to the database crapping out just counting the unread posts, which shouldn't happen anyway but y'know how my host is being a 'tard recently!

You will see how long since you marked read on the top of the forum index.

Hey al, i went to my friends list to try and "delete" some of the friends that might have gone away (pretty much the people that have not been active for like...MONTHS) and when i clicked "Delete", it sends me to the Private Messages Panel...i went back to find out that it didn't delete what i selected....

Fixed that now. Was linking to the wrong page.

I wouldn't have taken that step at all had my host provided a good database service.

So basically all we have to do is mark the whole Forums as read every two weeks for the new reply marker to appear? Alright sounds simple enough to do. I just went through every forum to read any posts before doing so so that I don't miss any.
