by the way, in an attempt to stray from this ridiculous topic... has anyone seen something resembling the light poles next to an X3 machine? (stand-alone, though, rather than being fixed to the machine like they are in this picture)

Weird, isn't it? The points system needs a revamp.

I've decided to open up Sony Vegas to see what I could accomplish.
Not a whole lot, to be honest.

Ran a benchmark tool for Resident Evil 6 on Steam (which doesn't require the RE6 base game) with my GeForce GTX 750 Ti and it holds up very well. Without Nvidia Shadowplay the game is 30fps minimum, and is around 75-80 fps max on max settings.

I find it worrisome that Google would rather consume a company to enter a market than to actually try building something up that is their own. Although in the case of Twitch, Google is being a bit thick considering there are plenty of alternatives that function just the same as Twitch. In light of this news, hitbox.tv is looking like a great alternative now.
Also, I feel this gif is relevant:

I would be asking these questions in chat, but at the current time of my posting this nobody is there. So, I have a few questions:
1) Can a US SuperNOVA be upgraded to a JP X2? (I say X2 because the arcade I go to has a lot of young kids visiting, and I'm sure most parents wouldn't be thrilled with X3's LITTLE BITCH)
2) If so, would the arcade be able to install it themselves if I just hand them the upgrade kit?
3) If not, is there a valid outside source for the arcade to contact so that the upgrade kit can be installed?
4) Just for somebody who wants a casual game of DDR and has never played a game in the series before, would they most likely be able to navigate the Japanese menus?
5) This question is slightly out of place, but how easy would it be to stumble upon a JP X2 upgrade kit? How much do they usually go for?
Hopefully I can get my questions answered.

Yes, you can upgrade a US SN cab to X2. Peter Pan Games in Queens, New York had a US SN cab upgraded to X2 before they closed down. As far as the menus go, Extreme is basically everywhere, and most people don't seem to have any issues navigating the Japanese menus.
I can only answer those 2 questions, but I hope it still helps a bit.

1) Yes.
2) Depends if they have someone that knows how to install it. If they do then you are in the clear, if they don't, you're just handing them a piece of equipment that will be collecting dust until someone comes along and installs it for them.
3) If there is someone that knows, they will more than likely already be in contact with the arcade, or rather you should let anyone that has experience with installing/maintaining DDR cabs to know that an arcade is planning on getting an upgrade kit and they need help installing it. Better yet, learn how to do it so you can just install it for them, but learn from someone who knows how to do it first.
4) X2 has this thing where if you don't select 'Pro Mode' and instead go directly to 'Happy Mode', you are stuck with about 50-60 songs instead of the full song list from X2's library. X3 I am sure they got rid of this confusing choice of play but there instead they replaced it with 2ndMIX Mode or whatever. DDR 2013 just gets rid of it entirely, and all you have to select is Single, Versus, or Double and it takes you directly to the song list. Some versions are easier to navigate than others pretty much.
5) No idea, but I would have to say around $1k to $2.5k. As to WHERE to get them, that's probably classified or no one really knows where to get them.

Thanks for answering my questions! Didn't think they would cost so much though...
I guess I'll just have to ask the arcade to get one themselves.

I guess in the next few days, I'll contact the arcade, inform them about the upgrade kits, and ask them to buy one. Hopefully they'll be OK with sinking that much money into their DDR machine.

Good luck, hopefully they'll bite. Most places don't seem to care too much about their DDR machines. I don't think they generate as much revenue as they would like for how much a machine costs.

Here's the thing about the arcade I go to that I forgot to mention: the arcade is located in the same building as a casino. Meaning that they have a shitton of money, they could probably afford it easily. I've been drafting up a letter to request that they buy an upgrade kit.
