The last time I was in a tourney would have been about three years back at a con in St. Louis. Probably not the best tourney, since it was impromptu, but I hadn't played in so long. Got up in it just to see how well I'd do.

I was actually keeping up with most of the Heavy targets and wasn't doing half bad, honestly. I think that inspired me to later get back into things and try to figure out just what this forsaken state has.

I mean it's Arkansas. I might have a leg up on Wyoming but that's about it.

The last DDR tourney I in was an EXTREME tourney. I lost my 1st match, won the 2nd (Took a first time FC HVAM to do it), then lost the 3rd (double elimination). A good deal of the people in that tourney could AAA Legend of MAX with their eyes closed so I knew I had no chance in hell of winning it. Oh well at least I had fun.

Any game tourney I go to I just go to have fun. For me I always seem get the mid to lower seeds then start pulling off upsets. However that DDR one I was just not in the same league as some of the other players.

Went to Mohegan Sun today again and played on the Supernova machine for the first time in 3 months. All of the marquee lights are gone now and the pad lights are dim. But it still plays well and the screen and audio don't have any problems. Finally managed to clear MAX 300 Heavy on a machine as opposed to at home, so that's nice I guess. Also I saw PureBlue's ranking on some song, but I can't remember for the life of me what the song was. Somehow gathered a crowd of 5 people behind me playing The Legend of MAX Standard, which was a pleasant surprise I guess.

Also I got like 2 Greats on the stream at the end of ska a go go, which is an improvement considering I was missing most of the stream the last time I played the machine.

Overall, it was great to be back with the machine again. Also, I was thinking; spins are a good way to look impressive without actually doing anything impressive, right? So is there an easy way to do that without getting disoriented about where your feet are positioned, or is it just practice?

I really just want to go to Illinois and go play in Kon's arcade, because he knows his shit about DDR.

(btw how hard is it to hit a panel with your hand on an ITG machine? i'm thinking i might play one of those soon and i want to know what songs i can and can't play from a flash drive.)

Depends if it's a converted cab or a dedicab. I seem to notice the dedicabs are MUCH easier when it comes to hands.

Also, in terms of dedicabs, Andimaro cabs tend to be more sensitive.

I'd say Andimaro dedi > Roxor dedi > JP ddr upgrade >>> US ddr upgrade. However, Kon's machine is probably really good because he knows how to maintain it.

In terms of songs, you can play anything on r21 as long as you length patch it, r23 hard caps at 2:00 regardless of patch. For both, oggs must be below 5mb.

It's funny you mention that. In the final round, one player AAA'd LoM and the other person flagged it. I was definitely out of my league, haha.

I think I would have done better if I didn't do so bad on the qualifier. It was Jet World, and for some reason, I get a TON of greats on it on the Extreme machine we were playing on. I've flagged it on our local X2, and AAA'd it a few times at home, but I get more than 30 greats on that machine.

Best way to do it is to memorize the good spin spots ahead of time. However, I recommend against spinning in the first place because if you spin and get it right, it might look kinda cool, but if you spin and fuck up, you will look like an incredible retard, especially during the inevitable stumble afterwards when you try to get your bearings.

Sexy Planet From Nonstep Megamix is a pretty easy song to do spins on. Just keep track of your footing during the repetitive 4th note jump parts and you'll get it pretty easily.

Due to recent events from the Renard scandal, I decided I'd make a funny track based off it: AAH! There's a Fox in my Pants!

Of course you will. Maybe when or if I actually do manage to finish the track.
