Seems relatively stupid to buy a whole new machine...for a bit of new songs you'll ENJOY to play.
Note: ENJOY
You should be begging for an upgrade instead.

It's somewhat opposite here. We can stop begging for upgrades (I know we'll get one someday), but when it gets installed, we get a bit of new songs to play and get tired over. I can't say for others but the number one reason I want an arcade here to get X3 is to play the unlocked X2 content.
But we still want a JP dedicab if the opportunity appears.
As for the USA/EU versions, I kinda agree with them. If it means that Quality Control will be back again to ensure the longevity of the machine. I just hope the wait doesn't last too long, knowing how unlocking stuff on AC DDR nowadays is really easy and quick.

Okay, a couple pics from here. The 2nd mix interface looks decent on a big screen (Song was Bad Girls Another)

...and I thought the encore extra stage would be harder than this

I'm sorry if this was already asked. Is the 2nd mix announcer is in 2nd mix mode or is the X3 announcer doing all the hard work?

Graphically, 2ndMix mode looks awesome! - the graphics improved A LOT.
-
X3 mode graphics, is like an upgrade of X2 graphics with addition of DDR II music and some graphics too..
-
About the decision of delaying upcoming DDR Releases... kinda hurts the market; but we should wait for a future announce in KDE-J.

Thomas Howard is back, though the X announcer would still chime in from time to time.

There's a subtle difference between "it won't be released never ever" and "it won't be released FOR NOW".

If I were arcade operators, I wouldn't pay over 10-12ks for a machine that's crap AND it takes up a lot of space, as thereotically speaking, you could fit two regular arcade machine for the space of one new DDR X/X2 dedicab.
I'm going to import a dedicab when I save up enough money.

I will say, doubles looks MUCH better than singles.

Our arcade wouldn't even take a chance on X2 after the debacle that DDRX was. And really, who could blame him? The DDRX machine needed a patch in software AND in hardware right out of the box, and even after both the game still wasn't 100% right. People dying for a new mix after SN2 were either gravely disappointed with it to the point where many have either quit playing altogether, or have migrated to the latest Pump It Up release, whose US cabinets have little to no problems in comparison. This obviously resulted in the game making much less money than expected.
With X2, the arcade owner wasn't even going to take a chance on it because the important issues with the cabinet and timing haven't been ironed out. What good does a great songlist do when the game is still by and large screwed up by faulty distribution and handling. It also didn't help that there were no upgrade kits for existing DDRX machines either, which meant for X2 we'd have to get a whole new machine which after X1 wasn't going to happen. Nobody wanted X1 at all when he tried to sell it either, which should tell you a lot about how much it's valued around this territory.
So yeah, if Konami ever considers releasing another machine in the US they've got one hell of a mountain to climb. They absolutely CANNOT let Betson make and distribute the machine as they've proven twice over that they are completely incapable of doing a good job of it. And even if they distribute it themselves, they cannot cut corners on the machine that'll effect functionality or they'll be no better than Betson was. Either get it right or don't even bother.
As far as this game is concerned IMO we're not going to see it here unless it's imported. The removal of and lack of inclusion of Western licenses along with 2nd MIX mode pretty much guaranteed it. Especially the 2nd MIX mode, since as far as Konami knows that game never existed in the US.
As for Crazy Love doubles, now the chart looks decent. They basically removed the worst parts of single and made it flow better on a whole. I know the same thing could go for Diamond Night as well, doubles is actually fun, singles is a pain.

As far as the US arcade scene goes, DDR is dead
. Even if a super quality dedicab were to come our way, would it generate new players? Would existing players even bother? My nearest arcade has a DDR X2 on a SN cab, and it didn't make existing players flock over it after the first or second week. This is the biggest mistake Konami made: entrusting Betson with making the machines in the first place.
I guaranteed you, if the Betson SN2 machines were good or better than the Betson SN pads AND E-amuse worked with a affordable price arcades could pay, DDR would still be as good.

Considering what they did to Guitar Hero AC it'd be the only way that DDR could be handled worse, other than getting a load of 5 year olds to make the cab out of pasta and glue.

Well, if Konami wants to shit on DRR in NA/EU any harder, they would. Then again I'd rather have my phallus jammed inbetween the arrow and the metal plate of a Betson cab than play on a RT cab... UnlessPost #2099 · Posted at 2011-11-24 05:07:41am 13.6 years ago

Memo to Michael1991: you have used up your exclamation mark allowance for this decade.
