I happen to be one of those where DDR backgrounds don't bother me either. Depends from person to person really...
me either, probably due to superior vision. Seriously, I just can't see how anyone has ever had problems seeing arrows...there are so many options (even moreso with X) to HELP you see them.

Man I wish I could say the same thing, I had trouble reading the arrows sometimes because of which BG comes up on the screen.
Have you ever played DDR Supernova 2 on a yellow Dancing Stage, its so oh my, I hated it. I need a dark dancing stage in order for me to pass it. Stage 05 on DDR Supernova 2 is perfect, its the blue stage and with Yuni its perfect

I really hope that they make it so its easy to read the arrows in DDR X I hope. If they don't then its no problem, I guess I could just enjoy the music

None of the backgrounds in the SuperNOVA series bothered me enough to actually blame a bad score on any song.

man you must have some steel eyes or something, unless its just me, I do wear glass's if that even counts
I had trouble with DDR Max because of some of the BG Animations were to bright, and I could even read the arrows.
but yes al2k4 you must have some steely eyes or something

Indeed, I can honestly say I've never missed a step due to background distraction. I don't even notice them while playing. I could see problems with Note, but I play Vivid only, which is opaque. However, I could also see myself missing steps on the XBox versions, since I've seen a few videos which honestly hurt my eyes from bright flashing colours (hi, B4U).
If I had to say, the background which I've noticed most while playing was the part in TRIP MACHINE PhoeniX where it swirls suddenly at the part with all the jump streams. It's a little jarring.

Yeah I've never been distracted from the BGs either, unless I purposely turn my concentration towards them. If you're one of those that get super-distracted, try the following:
1. Switch to "Vivid" style arrows.
2. If the BG that's distracting you is a movie, turn of the movie setting by going to the Options via the Main Menu. This should help, and I think it reduces the risk of seizures too, for those who are succeptable to seizures from color/light patterns.

Most backgrounds don't bother me either, just the ones that (usually) blend in with the arrows, like that skull-on-graffiti BG in EXTREME, or Trip Machine PhoeniX's spiral. The only thing that really bothers me on a DDR machine are the lights on the marquee, because they're actually at eye level (I'm 5'10" or 1m78), and it's a pain seeing a flashing light straight into your eyes while playing.Quote: d6d24r94

Even if I switch to vivid (which is how I play BTW), Them backgrounds are a nuisance.Post #2029 · Posted at 2008-08-09 11:44:05am 17 years ago

I have to agree on that one, that's the ONLY one pre-SuperNOVA that bothers me as it scrolls WITH the arrows. TRIP MACHINE PhoeniX's video I can see getting very annoying in the arcades too.

hopefully with DDR X and with them saying about the animations in the songs, it won't be to annoying otherwise I'll will give Konami a peace of my mind. But I don't think it will since there smart about there games.

Well, we've already got Screen Filter now. Hopefully that's good enough to solve any problems people have with reading arrows.

c'mon man. i try not to be a grammar nazi, typos are one thing but please use the correct spellings of words for what you are trying to say.

Furthermore, for the people over at the "The Person Above you is Banned" thread:
Your - possession
You're- you are.
Honestly, I could deal with everything else if it weren't for the "their/they're/there" and the "your/you're" mistakes, haha.

As a programmer, I realize that mistakes in usage of language mean hours lost fixing bugs.

I tried looking at just the background once, and amazingly enough, I passed the song with a high B (about 880.000).

What is you're problem? Their is nothing wrong with it!

Are you guys going crazy from the lack of new information?
Yeah... me too!
But I am strangely comforted by the idea that this game could be the second coming of a DDREx2 type of game. (Especially with what we know about the game such as classic Dancemania licenses returning.) KONAMI kept a pretty tight lid on that game until press release day and we're all better people for it!
I say: BRING ON THE RIBS!! (One million and one internets go to anyone who gets this old DDRFreak reference!)
EDIT - You know... with all that said. It would really stick a fork right into my eyeball if KONAMI decided to repeat any KOs that we've already seen! I'm a license whore, not a KO whore!

XD@ Your avatar, UG.
And yes, I'm very curious to see the license list on this. I'm assuming they're keeping KOs under wraps because they don't want to reveal any X (AC) songs that haven't been seen yet. Maybe that's why they haven't shown many licenses either...
