figures.

A long time ago there was this stigma that the Street Fighter series could never go past 2 without restarting the series with a new name. Then they released Alpha 3 and broke the chain. Seriously if IIDX can build up to, what is it now, 17? Why can't anything else?

Also, first person to say 12thMIX gets a -1.

Oh now you know most misinformed DDR players will call this the 11th mix, because DDR X stood for DDR 10! (yes, I had someone argue this to me one time)

"Sarah/Autumn"
I once met someone who was off by 1 the other way, because they counted Solo or something. It took me awhile to explain that DDR Supernova was not 10th mix.
Play my game Arcana Seal of Rimsala (SNES)!

thats because people were too god damn retarded to realize capcom was explaining the events between SF1 and SF2 with SFA. if people had ANY intelligence they would ignore the name and see the game for what it is.

SF1 - 1
SFA2(takes the canon place of SFA1) - 2
SFA3 - 3
SSF2THDR(takes the canon place over all other SF2 versions) - 4
SF4 - 5
SF3 SI(takes the canon place of SF3 NG) - 6
SF3 3S - 7

basically, what happened with SF is the opposite of what happened with DDR. no one realizes that there are 7 canon SF games and mock the fact that SF4 just came out, while no one realizes that extreme wasnt 8th mix, SN wasnt 9th mix, X wasnt 10th mix, etc.

and, another similarity between both games, is the non canon games. for SF this is EX series, SFA1, SF3NG, and a bunch of SF2 revisions(WW, CE, HF, SSF2, ST, ST Revival, HSF2), while DDR has disney, solo series, TKD, DCT, and probably a few more.

And I never realized SF had events that had to be kept in order. I always thought it was just pairs of people fighting for the sake of fighting. And since they can't find a better place, they just use whatever random street they happen to be on.

Seriously, who keeps listing the developer as "Bemani"? I've seen that done since EX2. The industry never gets its s*** straight...

you best be joking. this is the equivalent of me saying "i never realized anne rice's vampire chronicles had events that had to be kept in order. i always thought it was just vampires sucking blood". if it has a story, it has to be kept in order. case and point, sagat has no scar in SF1. the SF1 ending has ryu scaring sagat with a shoryuken. therefore, every game after it that he is in, sagat has a scar on his chest so they have to take place after SF1.

Take it as something said by somebody who has never played any of the games, but has watched pairs of other people play them. So, yes, I was serious, and unaware of the details you mentioned. I didn't even know there was a story at all.

Er, AGB, I think the point is that the titling of Street Fighter is completely unhelpful to new players who want to play the series in order. I've never met anyone who actually knew and you're the first to explain an order. Street Fighter's naming conventions were just silly, especially since the versions of Street Fighter II look like the same game with tweaks to newcomers, not new stories in the series. It's ridiculous to expect people to "ignore the name" especially if say, someone plays Street Fighter IV now and wishes to experience the story in order; the names should help someone do this, not confuse them.

while the names arent entirely helpful(especially the american versions), there are certain things that help anyone who knows the smallest part of the story. in SF2, guile wants to get his hands on bison because he killed charlie. in SFA(SF Zero in japan) charlie is alive. clearly a prequel to SF2. SF4 also explains why dan wasnt around for SF2(blanka tells dan he tried to call him but his phone had been shut off). also in SF4, bison's alt outfit is supposedly the result of him surviving akuma's raging demon in SF2, and since shadaloo is shut down in SF3 this is a very strong reason SF4 takes place between 2 and 3.

sure its ridiculous to expect people to ignore the name of SF4, since 4 is clearly a higher number than 3, however SF Alpha and SF Zero both indicate prequel in the title.

wow, we're way off topic now.

Anyone else notice that the font for the score in the picture with Harmony in it (HP3) is different from the font used for the score in the other screens we've seen? Probably not really significant but I just thought I'd point it out.

I think I'm going to spend the next five minutes laughing.
Best excuse for a character missing for one game ever. That's got to be why Yuni was in Ex2 but not in SN1. Her phone was turned off and she missed the call about it.

If I remember correctly, didn't Paul Phoenix advance really far in one of the Tekken tournaments but was disqualified because he didn't make it to the location of the finals in time due to a traffic jam?

I've seen the one screenshot of the eight arrows, and it doesn't look pretty.

If you're saying that just because of how the arrows look, then I'll tell you that that's just how the arrows look in the Octo-Move Mode. There was also a video that showed how all 4 versions looked, and I thought it looked fine.

I'm saying that because of the whole background, and I'm still sticking by it looks inadequate. Fortunately for me, I won't be purchasing that version because I has no PS3.
