Z-I-v Simfile Tournament of Immortals 4

NOTE: All reviews are done on Expert (and Challenge when available). Played in SM5.

Adore You - I thought this was pretty boring, not just due to easiness either. There were a lot of pretty long gaps between steps at times. Wasn't fond of the song either.

Air Balloon - Great! You kept this more interesting than I would have been able to.

ANDROMEDA -SF_2011 Mix- - Expert: I wasn't crazy about most of the spins in this chart and it could have done without the one footswitch towards the end, but the rest of the steps were good. Didn't really see a need for the stops, though.
Challenge: Again, I felt this would have been fine without footswitches, but everything else was good.

Boil - Considering this is, as you said, something you wouldn't normally step, you did a good job with it.

Charteuse - Expert: Cool song choice and a pretty solid stepchart to go along with it. Good work!
Challenge: Honestly I wasn't a fan of this one. That super-long 16th stream in the latter part of the song was too much! I mean, I get what you're following, it just feels so overkill compared to how the music feels at this point. (Unrelated to my vote: This feels way easier than an 11.)

Childish War - First impression when I heard the song preview in SM; "HOLY CRAP THIS SONG KICKS ASS". And it had a really really fun chart too! My favorite by far!

Come & Get It - Not crazy about some of the BPM gimmicks but THOSE CROSSOVERS WERE SICK.

DARK LEGACY - WOAH. Lots of really jump-heavy sections that could have done without so many jumps. It's pretty uncomfortable to play at times. There was also this one random double-step that kinda made me cringe. There's potential here for a really cool chart but it needs a lot of work.

Dreamin' Feelin'(Anthemic Update) - Alright. Didn't think it was anything great but it was alright.

Extraordinary Machine - Not exactly what I'd consider a good song for stepping. I honestly found it to be a really boring song with really boring steps. Part way through the chart (halfway or so I think) the notes started drifting early, that didn't help either.

Galaxy Supernova - Good chart overall. Can't really find anything wrong. It's just really fun to play!

Guren no Honoo - For the most part this played pretty well, but I HATED those stops. Without the stops I would have liked this a lot better.

Gutsman Stage - Eh. Kinda felt draggy to me. The ending was good but it just felt like it took such a long time to reach that point of the song.

Heaven Is A Place On Earth - Okay, normally I don't make comments about audio quality... But this is really lousy audio quality. I can understand not exactly having perfect audio quality for, say, any new song in Insert-Bemani-Game-Here and there hasn't been a clean line-out yet. This has no reason to be so bad. Anyways...

Expert: Just really wasn't that fun to play. m39-m43 feels out of place with the rest of the chart, kinda like it's doing its own thing and not staying consistent with the rest of the chart. Using "climax theory" to beef up the difficulty at climactic moments is fine, but this just feels weird.
Challenge: I don't think most of these holds were really necessary, especially the ones on the jumps going to the cymbal crashes. Just the jump would have sufficed. Again, m39-m43 just does its own thing instead of being consistent with the rest of the song.

Hitori Shizuka - Expert: Not bad. I would have liked to see a few crossovers in there to make things a little more interesting. The rolls at the end were a nice touch though.
Challenge: There's the crossovers! This one was more fun, good job.

Insane Techniques (Radio Edit) - Pretty solid chart. There was just this one part that plays pretty weird; At the very beginning of m42, unless you start the stream crossed over, you're going to end up backwards at the end, and there's no real clear indicator that you're supposed to start crossed over. Other than that, I like what I played.

Kimochi wa Tsutawaru - Expert: As far as 6's go, this was a lot of fun. Definitely something I would play if I was taking it easy that day.
Challenge: This was was a lot of fun too.

Kiss The Stars (Kat Krazy Radio Edit): Pretty good stepchart, not much else to say.

Love Is A Danger Zone (cranky remix) - Other than one really jarring double-step in m20, this was pretty good.

LUV CAN SAVE U - Good chart, not terribly much to say.

minna no maimaimaa: Pretty good, although I can't help but feel there's room for improvement here.

Neapolitan Dreams (Sound Remedy Remix) - Expert: THAT SPEEDUP. Seriously, that speedup was way more intense than it needed to be. The syncing at the very beginning is pretty weird; starts at over 140 BPM and then suddenly drops down to 114 before the first note? Why not just start at 114 in the first place? Also there were a lot of unnecessary jumps that would have probably been better as single arrows, and annoying double-steps throughout the chart. Try to watch out for that.
Challenge: This is pretty much a copy & paste of Expert but with only a handful of sections changed. They don't make the chart any better either, unfortunately. Same problems as Expert.

NEW Astronomas - Very cool song choice! Quite a few fun parts in this chart too, though I'm not entirely sure why you decided to have a 16th note crossover in m71; every other time you stepped that sound you used much simpler patterns, so this particular part feels kind of sudden.

NIL - Not much to say, really. It's just okay.

Pop Music Ron - Other than the two 8th note spins, I enjoyed this quite a bit. (Unrelated to my vote: Hey, my name is in this song's title! )

Provoke - My file. Against my better judgement I kinda rushed through this file, and it shows in various places. Gotta remind myself not to do that next time.

Quo Vadis - Expert: Fun, despite the fact that it does seem to repeat quite a bit at times. I think cutting the song length would have helped.
Challenge: A lot of those 24th notes felt pretty weird to hit. It took away from what was generally a pretty good chart to play.

Rat Twist - Wow, you weren't kidding around with those spins! It's an admirable effort, but it's also pretty overkill at times. Great song choice for the style of stepping you went with, but it could have been better executed.

Reach for the Stars - Expert: This is really your first simfile ever? I expected there to be errors galore, but much to my surprise it actually plays much better than I expected. It's not GREAT, but it's a pretty good start. I would have liked to see the BPM halved from measures 38 to 46, but no big deal. Style choice, I guess. Additionally there's an unnecessary double-step in that same area. Be careful of that. Nevermind, not a problem. Just the way I played it initially, I guess. Thank you for clearing that part up for me!
Challenge: This, on the other hand, I think you may have gotten carried away. There's a whole ton of points in this chart that have way too many jumps, and many times the jumps feel very inconsistantly placed. Most of the jumps make this pretty uncomfortable to play. There were a few other parts too that had some awkward patterns (m29 and m61 were major problems). If the goal here was just to get a max combo of 573, this wasn't a good song to do it on and it was poorly executed... Sonic isn't even Konami's game, so I'm not so sure why 573 would even be relevant here. o_O

Reaper - Expert: Is there really that much a point to most of these short rolls? I get the whole idea of accenting a sound in the song, but that could have been done with holds as well. Personally I think that rolls should be saved for when you actually want the player to hit the same arrow for an extended period of time. Other than that, it was alright.
Challenge: Has the same issues that Expert has, although I'm glad to see a few longer rolls that are actually hit like rolls.

Smells Like a Chocolate - I'm really not sure why anyone would want to convert that nonsense PIU Pro 2 chart to 4-panel. Even if the Challenge chart's 16th streams made any sense, I can't really give much credit for anything when it's just a convert. Expert was more reasonable, but again, it's just a convert.

snow motion - Okay this song is gonna be stuck in my head for a while now, it's so catchy! Really fun chart too.

Some day (insutrumental) - I thought this one was kinda bland to be honest. It also had a couple of odd parts where if you don't start the stream crossed over, you end up in an incomplete crossover at the end of the stream, and there's really no clear indicator at all how the stream should be started. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but I didn't care for it.

Sticker of Puyo Puyo - Eh. Nothing really special, but it's an alright chart.

SUPERGABBER - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA song choice alone makes this great, steps are good too.

SuperNova - Expert/Challenge: Wasn't crazy about either chart but they're decent enough I suppose.

Valanga - I played Silverhawke's version as well to compare the two; personally I thought his was much better overall, but this one has plenty of fun moments as well.
