We are now in the round of 8. Also keep in mind that now, Files will be due Friday same time, and voting will go on in the weekend until this time next week.
I've been knocked out, oh well Naughty Girl was a damn good file so I can't feel too bad about it.

Be careful when placing up/down arrows after jumps, because it has a 50% chance of turning into an awkward flow-breaking doublestep
Here's how I see it. People playing Heavy/Challenge should be fairly skilled player, and should be able to determine which foot to start on to avoid double steps (assuming they're playing at 1.0x speed). It is the players responsibility to find the best way to play the chart, not the charts responsibility to make it clear cut how the player should play.Be careful when placing up/down arrows after jumps, because it has a 50% chance of turning into an awkward flow-breaking doublestep

Like maybe 5% of people play on 1x regularly (I'm probably being generous). That's a pretty unfair expectation of players for playing your charts. :/

If a chart is awkward as hell most people aren't gonna make it a responsibility to try making it fun; they're just not gonna play it.

I didn't mean it for just my charts... I'm also referring to ALL charts, even charts on DDR. You can avoid double steps by realizing what foot to start with. If you normally play with 2x/3x fine by me, but then it should be expected you'd run into double steps, which shouldn't be new information.Quote: Silverhawke

wait, doubles (lol i dunno their double charts)
ugth then let me re-phrase that.wait, doubles (lol i dunno their double charts)
You can avoid "50% chance double steps set ups" by knowing which foot to start with.
Speaking of Healing Vision...
You can avoid a lot of the double steps if you know which foot to start with (and doing the super fast spins). The only forced double steps are at 0:45 and the last stream (maybe some more, no time to check atm have to go to work...)

What about the doubles charts? Can you speak more coherently?

Yes, but this is not necessarily what people enjoy, especially in the context of a tournament, people are (on average, not a rule!) gonna pick the file that they enjoy more..
I personally don't enjoy playing on 1x at all, I have specific speed mods I pick for each different BPM. If you wanna compete with people who make files that flow better, because you want to force them to play something that maybe they don't enjoy, you're gonna have a bad time

In DDR, I don't avoid ambiguous steps by playing in 1x because then my accuracy/PA suffers, I avoid ambiguous steps by simply knowing the chart beforehand, and that requires some bruteforce attempts

The best way to avoid doublesteps in simfiles is to simply not put them in unintentionally. They are always jarring and ruin the flow of a chart if they aren't intentional (say what you want about HV AM; it's still awkward as hell at times and none of the doublesteps feel consistent or accent anything in the music really). If it were something like RD jump followed by U-L-R, I can kinda forgive it since it's facing the same way, but LR faces completely forward and doesn't give any indication what foot to use on a U or D arrow.

Well, during the ending run (starting after the stop), if you listen for it, there's a (very faint) "bloop" sound that goes to every doublestep. You're actually supposed to turn around and face away from the screen and continue the run, you face forward again on the next "bloop". It's a lot easier to notice the pattern in the double expert, but it's definitely intentional, and it actually does go to the music!
WATCH @1:26
Doesn't mean the chart isn't awkward as hell, but it's still pretty cool.

well shit, I never noticed any sound going to them lol (then again if it's that quiet I'd wonder why it's even worth accenting but whatever).

ToyCube Pf.(RX-Ver.S.P.L.) / 高田雅史
BPM: 180*

That 9 rating for

Tried focusing on the file being more fun as opposed to hard since the song itself is relatively calm and free flowing.
Whether or not that was a good idea I guess will be decided eventually, but I like it, so hopefully someone else does too.

Are files due to tommorow (as in still 24h) or deadline is in 30 minutes?
If the second - can I submit file that has been released but not in any contest (I don't see a rule about this)?
