Can't you get D for anything less than 700k? I thought you only got an E for properly failing, not getting less than 600k.

sorry, i also forgot to mention... it automatically give you the grade of E regardless of how much the score do you have, as long as you FAILED the gameplay.

I updated my stepmania.ini to use SN2 grading system the way you said, got 989.974 on a song with 6 greats, and I've got a AAA Perfect Full Combo, is it normal?

Are you using REDUX, 3.9+, or 3.9? In REDUX, it does work like X2 if scoring is set to SUPERNOVA2.

AFAIK, the scoring type option MAX2, 5th, SN1, SN2 etc. affects the number of digits the score displays, and does not affect how they compute the score before they give the grade. The score and grade computing behavior is affected by the codes in stepmania config like i have posted earlier (the grade percent tiers and the grade weights).

If I get 988,000 points, it will still give me a AAA.
It is really weird actually. If you get the same score, BUT you don't full combo it, it will give you a AA.
It seems combo breaks can do quite a bit of damage to your grade.
I guess this could explain the time I got a B with a score of 926K

I don't think this can be fixed as this looks like something to do with Stepmania itself rather than the config files.

sillybear, are you going to make more dancer bg videos? With another stages or costume colours. That would be great, I like them a lot.

- The point there is that it gives you a AAA with that score because SM computes the overall score by means of percentage which is can be done on Options Menu (if you want score or percentage just like ITG). So if you can get 99% of the overall score, then you get AAA.

- Yeah! StepMania is so weird. I'm going to talk with sillybear and do some experiments on this weird grading system.

I dunno... depending on my schedule and my bandwidth rate here in my set due to very slow connection... actually i have so many dancer vids in my collection here (dancer vids in alternate outfit are present too), the only vids i didn't uploaded were the dual dancer vids (afro-ruby, alice-emi, two rage with different costumes etc.) like those shown in my youtube page. Some made the same dance routine for dual dancer vids like alice-emi etc.

I have always had this idea where someone records a dancer video on the slowest song in the game and use the simfile options to speed the video up to the BPM of the song. I say slowest song so the video can support slower songs without the video being choppy.

hiyas, i just wanted to say great job on the theme. i wanted to know why did you take the screen filters out? any chance of them being put back in the later builds of the theme? and any chance there's a way to better split and build the dancer videos rather then using bits and pieces. XD i only ask because i'm using the random movies folder for the old moves from the max, max2, and extreme days

There's no way to implement screen filters in 3.9, at least from the options menu. The only workaround is to include one of the filters in the Graphics or BGAnimations, and even then they'd be there all the time.

And as for your second question, I'm not sure that's relevant to this thread. Though I do wish they'd return to using those videos...

the second questions was basicly to find out if there was a better means to have the dancer vids made because how their split up and whatnot it fades to something else. if someone could maybe make a full video of each character maybe that'll work rather then 5 seconds here or 10 seconds there. the statement about the old videos well are just that. i have thoses mainly as the background videos and they don't play nice with the newer stuff. XD that's all.

If you prefer those X2 dancer vids, you should transfer all old Non-X2 RandomMovies to another folder so that the latter will not play again but the X2 Dancer videos only. Don't forget to modify your stepmania.ini using notepad with this code:

numbackgounds=1

to display one X2 Dancer movies per stage.


Teaser theme updates (will be uploaded soon):

- during ScreenWarning, ScreenCompany, ScreenIntroMovie, ScreenTitleLogo, ScreenInstruction, ScreenDemo, and Scoreboard screen, pressing any directional button will not switch to next screen until you go to ScreenMenuWithTitles. In short, all directional buttons will be DISABLED (as well as menu buttons) in these screens (to match AC behaviors)., thus, will make you safe to step to the dance pad.

- the display length and animation for ScreenStages and ScreenGameplay Cleared will be reduced (to match AC timing).

I would like to recommend including the "thunderstorm" bg video (the one when a shock arrow chart is played).

Was that even in X2?

Or do what I did and go to edit songs -> choose X2 song -> add the video as bgchange. The only drawback is that only the video
that you set in there will play everytime you pick that song.

I did it since the majority of my songs have added BGchanges (from randommovies).
