Welcome to DDR STR!KE, released in 2005 for PS2 in Japan only.
Long story short, it's basically what happened when DDR EXTREME 2 had a fling with DDR ULTRAMIX 2.
Nobody seems to talk about this one a lot, and there aren't very many FAQs based on this game to help provide newcomers to what this game provides. Hopefully I can rectify this a little. While it's relatively straightforward, there are some curveballs they throw your direction from time to time. Also, everything is in Japanese, not so easy to understand compared to English (according to this native English speaker). So here is my Dance Master Mode walkthrough, hope to be of some assistance.

Questions:
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: Primarily as a resource for myself as I traverse through the game. But also, I figured it might help anyone else who might recently pick up the game and might not natively speak Japanese. It also could just be for anyone interested in seeing what the game has to offer.

Q: Why this decade+ old game?
A: Because it's underrepresented in the DDR community, and nobody seems to ever talk about it. The only FAQs (read: the only one) I can find for it are unfinished or virtually unreadable. People still want to come to this game a decade after release, I want to help these people.

Q: What's going to be covered in this walkthrough?
A: Everything related to Dance Master Mode, the sole mode for unlocking content. Just like in EXTREME 2, everything is done through a joint Mission Mode/Shop venture. While songs can be unlocked for purchase in the Shop if you play enough in Game Mode, the amount of time it takes to try and unlock everything is not worth it when you have DMM at your disposal.
I will go through each mission, and tell you as much info as I can about it. What the goal is, what the difficulty chosen is, what modifications are used, what is unlocked, etc.

Q: What's so different about this game compared to EXTREME 2?
A: Aside from the radically different song list, the vast majority of the missions are changed as well. Items in the shop also have had their prices adjusted, especially alternate characters (from 100000 for a single character down to 6000). Also included is the ability to see which missions trigger an Extra Mission, as well as which ones contain Hidden Arrows, all by pressing that Select button. Why this feature wasn't included in EX2 is beyond me. Also, the Karaoke Revolution demo is gone and replaced with an advert for a movie/documentary(?) called RIZE. It's such a... jarring inclusion.

Q: What are the Extra goals for?
A: For unlocking the Extra missions, of course! Keep in mind that you also have to complete the original goal in order to complete the Extra goal. For ones that require you to get a certain grade, that's a given (of course you'd beat the goal of scoring at least a B when you get a AA). But for the ones that require you to get a certain amount of notes, like in A-05? Not so much a given.

Q: Where's the information for the other unlockables? Courses? Noteskins? Characters?
A: This FAQ is mainly focused on DMM and, while those are unlocked through DMM, they're not significant enough for a detailed inclusion. All you need to know is that courses get unlocked for purchase after they've been played once, noteskins are seemingly random, character skins are after you've played at least 5 missions with a particular character, and the extra modes are after you've purchased all songs.

Cool, I have that game and I completed all the missions. There is an extra mission compared to Extreme 2 Master Mode to unlock MAX 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix) but it's when you finish the last mission.
The missions are different but not difficult, it's enjoyable.

So glad there's renewed interest in DMM! I was just going back through Extreme 2's, and I got DS Max recently (I'm waiting on STR!KE myself... well, again - because I used to own it and all my games went suspiciously missing).

You think it's not very different, but there's some missions that are very much so. That effing E-2 "I will Survive" is just... "!!!". That shit took me FOREVER to beat.

I didn't say they weren't very different. I do believe I even said that the majority of the missions from EX2 were replaced.
Unless I'm misreading your post completely. I've done that at least once before.

Currently working on Area B still. Spending all day figuring things out. 50+ missions (including Extras) isn't a quick adventure.
While I do plan on keeping on updating this thread with the findings, would anyone be interested in a simple FAQ-styled walkthrough of the entire game? I'll likely do it anyway, but I wanna know if there's interest.

Tell me you didn't misread that. But yes, the interest is very much existent. Heck, if I could come up with a way to autogen a "DMM" for SM, I'd be on that, too.

I have and I have not. There's a lot to go through on SN JP, more than I have the patience. At some point, I might make an attempt. As for now, my focus is on STR!KE.
On the plus, I also have plans for a SN2 JP FAQ, as well as an ancient FAQ for X US I've been planning on sprucing up.

FAQ is incomplete and also seems to contain wrong information. Only reliable FAQ is the image of DMM, if that even counts.

I lost all progress on this FAQ when my original laptop finally shit the bed last year or so, which means there's a slight chance I'll have to go through this entire process again. I'd rather go through the game and experience things for myself instead of relying on other peoples' FAQs; since this isn't some ready steady American classic, I find most unlock guides and whatnot to be unreliable.
Now that this thread got bumped, I'm considering starting shit up again from scratch on a new save. The first 2 Areas will likely be untouched.

Also, unrelated tangent for clarity's sake, please do not refer to me by AnonyWolf. While I'm aware that is, in fact, my screen name on here, it's a name I wish to forget along with the heavy baggage it carries for me in regards to my personal life. Until the site's coding changes, I don't think the name could ever be changed - but I've come to terms with this enough.

Hey, thanks a ton for making this guide, I've just started to get back into DDR, the Dance Master or equivalent modes of the PS2-era titles in particular, and being able to play Str!ke without having to guess around at the Japanese challenge/hint text has been a huge help!

Just a heads up, the clear requirement for C-13 seems to actually be "Complete to the end with the Dance Meter at maximum" or however you want to word it, rather than just "Complete to the end". That's at least my working theory, as it failed me on my first try despite me only missing one note near the very end of the song (and as a result not having a maxed meter), but I passed on my second try where I full combo'd. Worth noting that its challenge text is slightly different than the normal "Complete to the end" text, with a chunk that reads " [A Kanji] が[Another Kanji] わったとき," in front of the standard text, which is presumably what specifies that you need the meter at max, so any other mission with that bit of text at the front likely has the same requirement.

Just happened upon this guide while trying to look up for DDR Strike in the forums and really appreciate that you've taken the time to make it! Hope you're done with Area D and E as they have less number of missions. I've actually done all the missions as this game is one of the first I could get running smoothly on PCSX2. I was I'm now on Dancing Stage Max's DMM and I can now see that Strike's DMM is miles easier than EXTREME 2 or DS Max's. Yes, there are tough missions like E-02 and crazy hidden requirements for X-09 and X-20 but it's no match for the PARANOiA hidden mission requirements in Extreme 2 and D-43. Perhaps I'll work on a guide too for DS Max with a map-based approach, really love Strike's map on GameFAQS.
