Using Sony Vegas for Simfile Videos

I used to use Sony Vegas to cut and render videos for my simfiles, and I had the perfect preset figured out so that my rendered videos wouldn't be 1 GB or more in size. However, recently I had to refresh my computer which uninstalled all my programs, removed any presets, etc. and I just tried to cut a video and the file was really large.

So... I was wondering if anyone has figured out this perfect preset and can tell me. Thanks.

If you're looking to render an .avi, I can't help you with that...I haven't figured out an ideal preset for that either.

I have figured out a good setting for .mp4. I use "Internet 480p widescreen" and the videos are small enough to be shared in simfiles (15-30MB) and are somewhat decent quality too.

Well, I would prefer to render in .avi directly since that's what I was doing before, but I thought about using .mp4 since StepMania supports that as well. I'll try it out when I get a chance.

If you have one of your rendered videos, it could take the config from there, just go to the properties dialog, in the Video tab, search the row of the templates, you will find 3 buttons, the third button, let you generate a template, with the properties of a rendered file, just click it, and pick one of your videos, and vegas will load the configuration on that file.

Sony Vegas is unable to open any old .avi file I've made, which is odd. I rendered an .mp4 file and it's 13 MB, a much more reasonable file size.
