Recently, I purchased two DDRGame Champion Arcade Metal Dance Pads. Each comes with a cable that allows it to plug into a PS2, and then there's a PS2 to USB adapter. I've seen people using similar pads on YouTube but not giving details on installation. I'm guessing that it's literally mapped as a PS2 controller and so I need an external program to bind the pad to my keyboard, and I'll give that a try, but if any of you use an actual pad for Stepmania 5 instead of fingers on the keyboard, and you use this exact same pad, please tell me what to do.

Trying manually configuring each key in the Stepmania options. Should be under config key/joy mappings.
Might not work but it's worth a shot.

If you've checked your mappings in game controllers under windows settings and it's going by button mappings instead of axis, you should be fine.

Control Panel > Devices & Printers > Right Click on your jogpad and click game controller settings > highlight the joypad and click advanced. There press down on an arrow. If one of the red circles light up, you're fine. If the axis indicator moves at the top, try the dance pad code ( Select + Start + Up for 5 or so secs) then try again.

Thank you so much. As it turned out, I had inserted the USB adapter into the wrong port on my laptop. I guess the ports on the left are for keyboards only, lol.
