Hi folks,
I'm having some problems with the 'song editor' function in stepmania, and was hoping someone here could help me with it.
My problem is that, as I edit a simfile for a song I'm working on, listening to a song with 'from current beat' or 'from start of selection', including ctrl+r for recording (which I'm not using btw, don't worry) plays the music, but plays it considerably off-beat.
The song I've been working on matches up fine if I play it from the start in the editor, or play it outside the editor, but having to listen to the entire song every time I want to test a few new steps is making it take an excruciatingly long time to edit a song.
Thanks massively in advance to anyone who can help me!
Here's my simfile header, in case the error could be in here. I copied this and edited it from another simfile:

This is a problem when you're using an MP3 with VBR (variable bit rate). If you have the original, make sure to reexport it as a CBR (constant bit rate) MP3, an OGG, or if necessary reencode the file you're using in the game as such.

Ooh, thanks for that.
I have the same problem as well, and I thought that it happens with all MP3s, so I stopped using them altogether in my simfiles. It's nice to know exactly why it happens.

Thanks so much for that!
Weird though - the mp3 I'm dealing with is CBR... :/
Still, converting it to an .ogg worked brilliantly.
