Anyone who can surf the internet has access to zenius.
Children are able to view this place.
When mods start using this foul language, there is just something wrong. It's a complete shame.
It's inconsiderate.
So I ask you, friends, can we put some time into stopping this madness.
Proof of purchase:

Offensive language in forums isn't going to go away as long as everybody has free speech. Unless you blacklist certain words, people will always use foul language in a forum.
and yes this is a serious post because no fun allowed

"Free Speech" doesn't refer to the fact that I can fill this post with cussing.
http://www.uscourts.gov/educational-resources/get-involved/constitution-activities/first-amendment/free-speech.aspx
A less literal version
Quote: The First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Some examples of what is and what isn't freedom of speech.http://www.uscourts.gov/educational-resources/get-involved/constitution-activities/first-amendment/free-speech.aspx
A less literal version
Quote: Site Rules
1a. In no circumstances should a user post any offensive or disruptive content in any threads or posts.

Everybody has their own way of saying things and if that's offensive then you shouldn't be on the internet. Children shouldn't even be on the internet if they are too tender to being offended by words and pictures because overtime, you start to accept them. This is coming from a recent moderator that operates in a site that has 10x the size of Zenius' community and 2x as much drama.
Can somebody please lock this thread? There is no reason for something like this to start to stir up the pot. Even if it's either a joke or a real deal, this is in bad taste and shouldn't be here. :I

I believe the issue isn't about whether or not cussing is offensive, it's whether or not that was a proper response from a site moderator. This thread shouldn't be locked either, to me it's a valid issue.

How far is ever too far?
There are degenerate things people can say, but it is not needed to be said.
There was no need to say such improper things.

Well said, I am a huge proponent of free speech without limitations. The best way to absolve offensive language is to simply not let it offend you, don't let words bother you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gLpDmIEeBQCan somebody please lock this thread? It leaves a terrible trail then of disrespect and no good value.
You are literally just stating that it is alright to leave people to completely abuse their "free speech" to post words that shouldn't even be posted.
It's such a shame, really. Manner up.

I personally don't see the problem in using profanities as long as the context in which the words are being used isn't hurtful or derogatory. Like for example, calling someone a cocksucker shouldn't be tolerated on the forums as the context of the term being used is derogatory/hurtful towards another member, which in and of itself is against the rules of the site. But casual profanity is not a major offense. Nobody is really going to bat an eye when someone uses "fuck yeah" in exclamation because something interesting happened in something they're interested in, or when someone uses "holy shit" when they hear something they don't necessarily believe, etc. etc....
People should be able to express themselves how they want, as long as they aren't being abusive or hurtful towards other users; that's the jist of it.
This is a pretty interesting topic being brought up, though, so thank you Aegis for bringing it up.

It seems to me that xRGTMx just went in the thread, posted that and locked the thread against some legit points Arrows did bring up?

No, it was a joke thread made by Arrows to mock the simfile thing Ryan/Spork! are doing. Ryan posted that shortly after the thread was made and locked it.
Not that anyone is asking for my opinion, but I kind of felt the thread was unnecessarily rude towards Ryan and Spork and even though he is a mod, it's not surprising to me that someone would act that way if someone else tried to publicly mock them.
I think it's probably best for both sides if everyone just forgot the thread even existed and moved on.

To be honest in my thread I was not intending to mock any users involved in any way, just the concept of that contest itself. I have done something similar in the past where I made a joke "Elimination Thread for Elimination Threads", if I recall correctly, and I did not receive any harsh comments or strikes for that thread.
Not that my opinion isn't biased or anything but I do feel like that response was uncalled for and irresponsible. And this is far from the first time I've been personally attacked like that, even by xRGTMx. I know this sounds corny but those posts make me feel hurt and unaccepted, they really do.

This thread would not have happened, but people felt the urge to spout profanity without purpose.

It seems really unfair to me to make a thread meant to provoke someone and then turn around and cry foul when it elicits a negative response from that person. If personal attacks make you uncomfortable, you should not engage in them yourself. It may not have been your intention, but your thread certainly came off as a personal attack to me.

It's meant as an example as people would have asked for one at some point in time.

I really don't have a problem with the stated purpose of this thread. I agree that this kind of posting should be discouraged, whether it comes from a moderator or from a regular forum-goer. But if we're going to discourage posts like Ryan's, why shouldn't we discourage threads like Arrows' as well? I think that whole thread was full of bad forum behavior, but this thread singled out one person specifically and that makes it seem insincere to me.

I think behavior like that is fine if it's a joke, everyone knows it's a joke, and no one is seriously offended by it. I love it when things get silly here, as long as it is silly and not flaming/deliberate trolling. It's honestly one of my favorite parts of this community. It's just when it goes a bit too far that it becomes disrespectful and hurtful. So yeah.

I guess it's time to state my point of view.
Arrows, I'm sorry I jerked at you like that. It really felt like you were mocking me, and I wasn't in a good mood at the time, and I overreacted a tad bit. As for THIS thread however...
It just seems ironic that this topic on offensive language is brought up -now-, don't you think? I mean, I don't like being the kind of douchey person and having fingers being pointed at me, nobody does. What kinda irks me is that you guys are making it seem like a huge issue when in reality, it's normal internet. Children shouldn't even be in these parts of the internet anyway. It would be their fault if they run into this, not ours, right?
Pie is correct, I did feel attacked from this, and the feeling of being hurt and unaccepted, like Arrows said, is quite mutual, and I hope everyone understands that. It's probably karma, though...
Albeit, the Simfile Tennis concept does have its flaws, yes, but give it time. Maybe after my match with Spork is over, maybe we can make it open to all of you guys!
I needed this laugh. Thank you.
