Just when you think Hayao Miyazaki, one of its co-founders retiring would be the worst thing to happen for the company...

It seems they were having financial problems with their last two movies (especially the the first of the two that were released) so they decided to close it down. Sad to see such an important Japanese animation company shutting down. I wish the people that were still working there the best of luck.

I was reading some more further sources and I guess Ghibli is actually restructuring itself in just managing its properties for art exhibits and shows.

This is really sad ghibli was my childhood and miyazaki will always be considered my favorite director of all time
