Universal launch for Dancing Stage!

The beat goes on as Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH announces Dancing Stage Universe for Xbox 360 coming in a special dance mat bundle

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH’s long-running Dancing Stage series heads to Xbox 360 in Q4, as the publisher unveils Dancing Stage Universe for the system.

Konami will release Dancing Stage Universe as part of a bundle deal, comprising a hard-wearing dance mat controller and a copy of the game. The Dancing Stage series has been entertaining social gamers for over ten years to date, and Dancing Stage Universe adds a wealth of new features to the series. Using the supplied dance mat controller, players are charged with matching on screen arrows with corresponding foot movements. As the player gets better, the ante is upped with more complex routines, while multi-player modes allow several people to compete head-to-head.

Players can select over 60 songs from the in-game library, with a mix of slow and fast-paced tracks designed to test the player’s timing and co-ordination. Leading the line up for Dancing Stage Universe are ‘Lonely at the Top’ by The Ordinary Boys, The Fratelli’s ‘Chelsea Dagger’, and ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ by Calvin Harris. Each tune is accompanied by its relevant promo video, over which the in-game graphics are superimposed.

Konami will also be selling the mats individually, allowing, for the first time ever, three 360 users to connect mats to their console, thus making for the largest single-machine multi-player version to date. A new ‘Continuous’ mode will also mix tracks to create an ongoing playlist, while the ‘Workout’ and ‘Quest’ modes have been enhanced. Dancing Stage Universe also features full Xbox Live connectivity, with tracks to download and online play supported, allowing users from all over the world to take each other on.

I'm hoping those licenses are just things that have a stronger following on your side of the pond, as listing them as their forefront tracks makes this sound like a really weak mix...
Keep clear... fat man dancing! Seventeen stone and grooving with the best of them Smile

I'm not getting my hopes up for much; this is just gonna be one of those:

Copy all songs from DDR Universe and remove licenses and replace with fewer licenses = Dancing Stage Universe, which is more or less what happened with Dancing Stage SuperNOVA.

I hope that you guys in the UK actually get more songs to download than from what was put on the disc in America.

Agreed. It's so...eighties.

Also, they said that three people playing on one console was the largest game they've made yet?

Do these guys remember the Ultramixes?

And also, more than 60 tracks? The tracklist here only says 45. OK...that means either:

A) More licences
B) new KONAMI songs
C) stuff the UK hasn't got yet that was on other US games *cough* Ultramix 4 *cough*
or D) KONAMI are dirty liars.

Oh ok.

I went to see the game database on this site and took a look at the exclusives; the songs that were given oni charts in earlier mixes aren't included? It's as if they never existed.

What's going on Konami? Don't wanna recognize those charts or what?Confused

There probably is, but since the way the databases work here; they're probably not shown; because the DDR Score Tracker uses the same database.

Songs that are in AC mixes, I haven't added the CHALLENGE charts to, otherwise they show up in the DDR Score Tracker which is wrong, because AC mixes never got those charts.

TL;DR - I think the CHALLENGE charts are there, just not in my database it isn't. Tongue

Haha, I'm not willing to trade that. Big Grin That's one of our rare good licenses; although KONAMI forgot to censor the the s-word out of the lyrics. Roll Eyes

I really want dance/trance licenses such as Cascada, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren which in the UK we should've seen ages ago. Neutral

The licenses in DS Universe:

All Saints / Rock Steady
The Ordinary Boys / Lonely at the Top
The Prodigy / Girls
Beatfreakz / Superfreak
Lo-Fi-Fnk / Change Channel
Camille Jones Vs Fedde Le Grand / The Creeps
The Hives / Hate to Say I Told You So
The Fratellis / Chelsea Dagger
The Automatic / Monster
Basement Jaxx / Cish Cash
Calvin Harris / Acceptable in the 80's
Supergrass / Caught by the Fuzz

I can't say I've heard ANY of the songs but recognise one or two artists but that's it.

Ah well...

Well, how about we trade you all the licenses of SuperNova and SuperNova2 for All the Things She Said?;)

Man, I remember when I was pissed when the UK got Take On Me and All the things She Said, and now we have Take On Me!

SuperNova3? Please don't bring that up! With the number 3 in the title, it'll feel as if America will start to get the crappy treatment. I mean, look at SuperNova2: it was released before the arcade and look at the reception it has received. To call the next game SuperNova3 would be horrendous, in my opinion. Maybe they'll use the "Festival" or "Strike" title for our next installment in the States.Neutral

Ha, I actually liked SuperNOVA2 US a lot.

As a North American DDR game, assume that we don't know anything about SuperNOVA2 AC and it's a pretty solid DDR game; but in reality we already know about SuperNOVA2 AC so that's probably why everyone is saying it sucks.

IMHO, you guys are better off with your DDR games, you get more licenses, you get more stores stocking it, you get it at least half to three quarter years earlier than us. Our LARGEST game retailer, GAME, didn't even bother stocking DS SuperNOVA in most parts of the country, Virgin Megastores didn't stock it, supermarkets didn't stock it; the only store I've seen DS SuperNOVA in is HMV and online shops.

Anyway, drifting a bit off the topic here lol. DS Universe will be in more stores this time round me thinks, as it is the first Xbox 360 release in Europe.

Point is, we get screwed royally. xD

I don't see you guys getting screwed, mostly because I like the licenses that the UK gets. And its true that SuperNova 2 CS is a solid game.

And to stay on topic: who the hell did the design art for the cover?! It screams out "retro" for crying out loudCryEvil
