I keep hearing DDRGAME isn't the best place, what other places exist?

I want to get back into ddr, I was doing so well this past year but my mats died after 7years, i had the red octane pads and well they did last me a good while. Is there any good alternatives? or should I consider buying a metal pad off ddrgame (or ebay) or just get some soft pads.

Any help is appreciated.

edit: I play ddr on ps1 / ps2

You can build your own. There's this thread, which has plenty of instructions on many different types.

I realize that could be a option, however, I don't have too much confidence in building one.... mostly due to time. but I'll look into that as well.

The only site that comes to mind is Precision Dance Pads. I've heard good things about them, but I don't have one myself.

Same, havent bought from there, but i've heard pretty good things.
Amazon and eBay are two places you could look for pads. Obviously eBay isn't 100% reliable, but there tend to be a good amount of people selling pads.

actually, that pad is only 13" x 13" so it can only fit in your lap :V

Well, everyone that ask this, I always recommend the same pad.

Quote: XmatthewX
I tell everyone that the one I have is very good. Before I soft modded mine, I was able to full combo songs such as Doll on Challenge which was amazing for me. I'm sorry if you can not get this ship to you but if you can, get it. I say it is the best soft mat I have ever gotten.

MAT:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gamesis-Multi-Platform-Dance-Dance-Revolution-Non-Slip-Pro-Pad-/271250189112?pt=US_Video_Game_Controllers&hash=item3f27c56b38

MOD:
http://www.angelfire.com/pro2/softpadmod/#_Toc71480697

Again, I am so sorry if you can't get this shipped to you. This is the mat I have today and with the mod, I gotten to get extremly close to my very first AAA with 2 greats.

THE MOD IS NOT NEEDED BUT IT DOES HELP. The pads doesn't slide to much when it was just the pad. And the best part is that this is VERY cheap (and worth it in my opinion)

one last thing, after I paid for mine (I live at CA also), I got the pad 3 days later.

edit: it seems like the mat isn't selling right now, I will add a new link as soon as it dose

BUMP: the mat went back for sale. It is cheap and it is a good pad. Here you go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gamesis-Multi-Platform-Dance-Dance-Revolution-Non-Slip-Pro-Pad-/281158315509?pt=US_Video_Game_Controllers&hash=item4176576df5

These pads I've not seen before, but if you say they are good I'll believe you. Smile It's hard to find any info on this game series since the community seems to be thinning out, at least in my area.

As a pad itself, without the modification. how does it fare? I'm obviously doing the mod, but I'm curious so I can maybe by more than one.

Could try hunting down a cobalt flux; surely someone near you in california has one for probably around $200 or so (really varies though; I got mine for $100 but they sometimes go up to $300 depending on the version/seller).

Sorry about that, i don't know how i missed that bit of information.

Also, cobalt flux? I don't see any local sellers, but I do see them on Ebay for a crapton of money...

If you don't mind me asking, how do the DDR US mixes fair? I kind of exclusively stuck to the
Japanese versions ( 2nd,3rd,4th,extra,5th,6th,7th,8th), i wonder if there is any point in buying the
other releases that came out in the US.

DDR USA for the PS1 is decent, but everything is unlocked from the start so it's kinda pointless.

DDR Konamix has a pretty good songlist. If you can still find it, I'd recommend it.

DDR Max was the first DDR game I ever played, so it has a lot of nostalgic value. But it does have a really good songlist as well.

DDR Max 2 is pretty good all around. I don't really have any complaints about it.

DDR Extreme has a good songlist, but the interface is pretty bad and they stupidly removed the option to turn off "dance play" (ability to use the controls on a PS2 controller to play DDR). If you can get past the ugly interface and can find a hacked game save with dance play disabled, it's pretty good.

DDR Extreme 2 is probably my favorite as far as the "recent" US DDR mixes go. Dance Master Mode is a bit of a pain in the ass, but the songlist is great.

DDR Supernova is okay I guess. Nothing to really complain about, but not anything to really get excited over either. Stellar Master Mode is even more of a pain than Dance Master Mode.

DDR Supernova 2 is probably my least favorite. I don't even really view it as an actual SN2 home version, just a DDR game that happens to have the same name, a few of the same songs, and the same interface. I didn't even bother with this version's master mode, I decided to be lazy and download an unlocked game save.

DDR X is basically what SN2 should have been in the first place. Song selection is good. Street Master Mode actually isn't too terrible. Still slightly irritating but not too bad.

DDR X2 is decent, but also not anything really exciting either. Be warned that it's nothing like the arcade version, at all. Dice Master Mode is a glitchy piece of shit.
