Crossposting this from AIJ:
Crossovers are hard patterns that require lots of turning and candle steps in sideways positions. Turning at higher speeds becomes very hard and it would be a great experiment to see what limits can be pushed with crossovers.
Of course, there are crossovers more extreme than others... a snaking Afronova run is worse than a Paranoia Survivor run.
I was thinking that there could be separate packs of dividing speeds of crossovers to move up to faster speeds. I'm not sure what a good division be, but I was thinking something like:
1) 100-130 BPM
2) 130-150 BPM
3) 150-180 BPM
4) 180-210 BPM
5) 210-250 BPM
5 would definitely be tachyon-type speed for crossovers, and 4 may be too. I think with some momentum this pack idea can become a reality.
I am not saying that I will coordinate this pack, because I want it to be a community project and I'm sure others are willing to collaborate. This is not my pack, this is a pack for everyone to push limits with.
Additional note: Mad Matt did have this idea, but he's been focused on other things.
NOTE: This does not need to be a footspeed based pack; if you want to step 120 BPM crossovers, that is perfectly fine. This idea just needs some momentum.

Hmm, I would love to help out if need be
Also: Instead of BPM, maybe "voltage" or "frequency" would be better. A song that's 120 BPM 16th crossovers is faster than 180 BPM 8ths.
EDIT: Even better, maybe do it based on difficulty levels, since, as you said, Afronova-walks are harder than PARANOiA Survivor-type crossovers.

This actually sounds like an interseting idea. I might be able to help.
Yeah, I think it would be interesting to see how footratings would be for difficult crossover charts. I haven't seen many (or any)

I'm interested to see what songs all of you are willing to step for this. There could always be a wip list.
I have ideas of restepping DDR songs (such as Upside Down) for crossovers, and even though they have ghost notes they're still really fun to play

^ Personally, when I make edits, I like to make them for songs that aren't considered "popular".
So likely, no MAX or PARANOiA for me.
I'll probably make one from the Ultramix series, if you don't mind.

These were the two speed crossover monsters I stepped. I'm going to go to more reasonable speeds now, but I liked how both these turned out; if challenge is too hard, heavy is a nice alternative.
