So I've been seeing all sorts of crazy things being accomplished on that Kickstarter site, and I was thinking... what if the community agreed on a single song and started a Kickstarter project to raise money to cover the costs for Konami to make it DLC on DDR 2010 PS3/360?
It could be an old song we never got, like the original Gentle Stress, or one that hasn't been seen in forever like the original Let the beat hit 'em!, or a fan favorite (judging by the "DDR Songs that other people like but you" thread, we would never be able to agree on a "fan favorite" that didn't totally annoy someone), or just a joke song like LET THEM MOVE, Macho Gang or GAMBOL. Of course, it would probably be more cost-effective to go for multiple songs at once. "DDRMax Greatest Hits" pack?
The song(s) would have to be Konami original because I highly doubt we'd be able to raise the cash for a licensed track. Also it's a shame that the one game without doubles mode is the only one with off-disk DLC.
So, sure, for just one or two songs it really wouldn't be worth anybody's money (even if we raised enough you'd still have to purchase the DLC anyway), but it would still be cool to see happen, if just for the "hey, look what I did" factor. What song would YOU gladly shell out far more than necessary for?
...or we could just raise money for the steps of A Geisha's Dream (Ruffage Remix) to be redone.

Who plays DDR 2010 anymore? I never did.
And wouldn't it have to be approved by KONAMI for the DLC to be allowed in the game?
But it's the thought that counts.

This sounds like exactly the sort of problem StepMania was created to fill.

You people do realize that Stepmania is causing KONAMI to lose a lot of money, because people can play any song from any mix, at any time, without paying one red cent.
Not only that, but SM isn't even developed or endorsed by KONAMI. I'm surprised that they haven't sued the creators for SM, but yet, they sued ROXOR for ITG.

Konami's fault for creating sub-par CS games for NA and EU. And if it were that big of an issue, Konami would have been giving out cease and desist orders to various websites.
Then factor in that they were in negotiations with FFR for some project there.
Konami don't give a shit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the lawsuit for ITG about the cabs basically being reduxed versions of DDR cabs?Post #10 · Posted at 2012-08-06 09:42:12am 12.9 years ago

I think that's what originally happened. Don't care enough to remember properly.

Does KONAMI still even support DDR 2010 anymore?
And it wouldn't get any of the NEW (not revived) X3 licenses for sure (2nd Mix Revivals would be awesome though). We never even got any of the new X2 AC licenses ported onto DDR II.

Yeah I know, that was wishful thinking on my part
but it would be nice though

The problem is that you would need a lot of people to pitch in, which could be hard depending on how well word spreads.
Also, DDR 2010 was terrible and does not deserve DLC at this point; the display was awful, even with decent DLC it wouldn't help the game much.
^Also, this.

I'd rather just have them pay up the licensing fees for Dynamite Rave, but I doubt people care about it any more.

Not to reignite a whole debate, but they were basically making money off of games that were quite clearly ripoffs of DDR.
From what I have been told, Konami knows about Stepmania and simfile-hosting websites, they just honestly don't care about them. Obviously DDR has survived for many many years coexisting with SM.

This would be nice, especially if there could also be better interfaces available (like if you could download interfaces from any DDR Game, 1st-3rd, 4th mix, 5th mix, DDRMAX, DDRMAX2, DDR Extreme, DDR Party Collection, DDR Strike/Extreme 2, Supernova, Supernova 2, X and X2 CS/AC). They'd probably be willing to do this if they had enough money.
Too bad it wouldn't actually happen. But I'd probably pay some money if there was a sliver of chance it could.
If possible, I'd like to see the Club Mix songs and maybe some Konami originals from the Ultramix series.

DDR 2010 was actually scheduled to have a lot more DLC than it ended up having. There were graphics found on disc that suggested that DLC from most of the US CS games as well as spinoff series like HP and UM/Uni were planned, but ultimately abandoned.
