OMFG, are you KIDDING ME!?
*looks at the stingy yellow bar on the upper right*

It's a PARA HADES FC AA with no assistance AND a challenge lifebar!! WTF more do you WANT?!

What if there's really a section "M" for 100%'ing the mode?
Or maybe busting HyperScores over 1 million, but with a few songs that doesn't seem possible...

I simply cannot pass Area J. And, when I say "pass", I don't mean "I can't beat the boss level". (That was dirt easy.) I mean "Okay, why the fuck do I have to play CALICO CAT ROCK with all of these gimmicks on, and when did HONEY PUNCH get so difficult?". This game might be my reason to hold actual hatred for those songs, just like how EXTREME is my reasoning for holding a very intense grudge on "TRIP MACHINE", and how EXTREME 2 is my reasoning for holding an intense hatred for "My My My". It's odd, because I generally enjoyed SuperNOVA2 (and seeing what came after it, I have good reason). The song listing was alright, the graphics were BLAZING (thank you, MTV Music Generator 2), I made some really neat friends on the Online Play (before X came along and made me lose contact with all but one), and, overall, the general flow of the game was quite great. It was nice and cool. And, yet, because of two missions I cannot pass, I can say that I equally hate the game as well. I may never get to see Area(s) K/L on my own terms, but at least I have all of the songs playable, I have the characters, and I have THE POWER.

Well there's one down...

PARA HADES had a ridiculously low margin of error, too:

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/486572_3371306772860_584057110_n.jpg

30 GREATs was not enough to max out that bar!! But...

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s720x720/487102_3371323253272_1390052258_n.jpg

26 GREATs did it. Judging from the MAX COMBO, that's a 5% non-PERFECT margin. OUCH.

And to think, that probably applies to NGO Challenge too... Confused

Then there's HANA RANMAN... Oops

http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/425035_3371455696583_1823318795_n.jpg

Fails don't get any more epic than that!!

Eventually, I got a Clear...

XKDVSMNBWQ-DA FUKKK!!! Oops *that meter!!*

Dead

Not even gonna lie about it. Every Day Every Night Heavy + STAIRS? I'm just gonna mess around in timing options and mash that crap. Just... NO.

I'm personally hung up on Area K. I can't read TMP at 1x to save my life, and Vem Brincar Heavy FAKE DOUBLES can go to hell.

"My paw is incompurrable!"
I got all gold cubes in the JP version but most of them not in full. As far as HMM is concerned, the US version's Area L is just impossible.

And yes, failing with a AAA is absolute bullcrap. Annoyed

Doesn't the JP version have some mission that involves DEGRS where you have ~500 lives?

There are only 99 (?) lives, but, yes. There is a mission like that on SN2 JP. Puppy Face
EDIT: I didn't properly evaluate the video before posting it. The bar at the top of the screen said there was only 99 lives, and I wasn't fully focused on the subject. I jumped the gun on my claim, and I apologize. Sad

The funny thing is that it's still possible to fail that mission by hitting a freeze arrow with a Good or Almost, then getting an N.G. on the freeze.

I'm still stuck on Every Day Every Night's mission in Area K. Haven't bothered to try and finish this mode in a long time. Tongue

Every Day Every Night was by FAR the hardest mission in this game, god that gave me grief for so long. I thought the NGO Challenge mission would be a huge wall to overcome too but somehow I got that first try haha! Proud to say I completed the whole mode legit on mat with no support modules used at all however!

Oh no... I've got them all beat. I'm going for that 100% completion thing that requires full yellow bars. Pretty sure the NGO Challenge requires an A-grade, because I've came close with some high-ranking B's. Just glad that's not FC/26 greats!!

Somewhere around the rumor mill has it that HMM has not been "officially beaten yet," even to this day. I'm thinking maybe there is a final section "M" that requires this, or possibly across-the-board Hyper Scores over 1 mil. But given how some mods play out, I don't even know if that's possible on some of the stages...

DDR X2 USA missions are harded than DDR SUPERNOVA 2. I passed all areas of SUPERNOVA 2 without using helper objects. Big Grin
Besides "Every Day Every Night", BAG is another mission which is hard to pass. Shocked

I've heard some bad stuff about DDR X2 PS2 NA's missions:

1. Get at least 95 (or some similar number) Marvelouses on this song on Heavy! Sounds pretty simple, right? Oops, we forgot to tell you that it's forced on CUT1, so there's only ~98 steps in the song! Have fun!

2. Get 5 MFC's! Any songs, any difficulties, any mods. Ironically, Pluto the First Beginner and Light are good choices for this, because thanks to their chaotic rhythm and stops leading to "blue note syndrome", a large portion of the steps are removed completely.
3. Oh, so you cleared that last mission? It must have been too easy then! [/sarcasm] Here's another one: Get 15 MFC's! http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-suicide.gif

X2's missions were just painful. A guy on GFAQS who wrote a guide to Dice Master Mode, after about 40 failed attempts to get 100 Marvelous on Sacred Oath Light with 1.5x (Sacred Oath's Basic chart has 107 steps http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-shepface.gif), actually patched his copy of the game so that he could clear it and 11 other nigh-impossible missions.
Maybe I should do that to my SN2 so we can find out for sure if there's an Area M :V

And this is why I never played Dice Master Mode.

I started Dice Master Mode but I don't see me ever going back to it. After spending roughly 4 hours on it and only unlocking about 3 songs, none of which I was too thrilled about, I'd rather just do it the game mode way.

Not to mention Dynamite Rave Air Special which, for no reason other than "the QA fell asleep", CAN'T EVEN BE UNLOCKED THROUGH DMM! The mission that would unlock DRAS...instead unlocks the original Dynamite Rave, if you made it that far without unlocking the song (which is highly unlikely). So you'd have to play regularly to unlock it.

Isn't there an Autoplay hack for that game? If you have the resources to patch it, you might as well do that too; it would be a lot easier.

I feel as though that X2 failed in the "Mission Mode" aspect of the whole series. With challenges that are just too difficult (almost impossible), a confusing control scheme, and the fact that the game itself can freeze up as you play this mode, it makes X's Street Master Mode seem great in comparison. I didn't like Street Master Mode.

I have a feeling that this thread will soon be a discussion about all of the "[x] Master Mode"s.
