But at least it informed me and others on how to do the Afronova Walk, so your hard work and flame-ness would be put to good use Smile

Until someone asks how to to The Breakdown Walk!
*1.2 years later*

I, Tash, wish to know how to to The Breakdown Walk. I feel as though this technique has alluded me for too long. To those who know the secret step, your assistance is requested.

(also new thread, since the old one has nothing to do with it)

Are you referring to the chorus of Breakdown by BeForU? If so, that pattern requires you to spin for the most part of the song, unless you prefer to doublestep the whole chart.

I'd like to see some videos or something, too. I remember a year or two ago I was really perfecting my DDR skills and I played Breakdown and totally owned it and did tons of fancy moves to boot. I remember thinking at the time "Oh! So THAT'S how you're supposed to do it!". But whenever I play it now, I usually double-step. I just don't have the pattern recognition I used to back then.

I do remember it involved a spin or two and a reverse (hyper?) crossover or two as well. Obviously, I was playing it no-bar (my preferred play style), which gives you a lot more freedom in your movements and rotation.

I found a video that shows the spins at the chorus, he messes up a few times but it's the best example on youtube.

I've seen that specific video before, but I can't shake the feeling that he's not doing it quite right, for the most part. A lot of his spins outside of the RDL RDL are awkward and seem to exist just for the sake of spinning. At the same time, the step chart is so odd that there has to be a "right" way to do it.

I think he is doing it legit (i.e. not doublestepping). However, I think the best way to play the chart is with a mixture of strategic doublesteps and then sometimes following the spins. If DDR had mines, you could show the player the steps that are supposed to be double stepped by throwing some mines in to force it, but without it, you just have to go with "what feels right".
